I've never liked the alacatra suede of the BMW Sport :-/ I guess I'm just a leather guy. The blue colour is nice though...but only on a blue car...or a very deep red car!

I wonder if they are bringing out a nappa leather or something like that for the M sport models. The nappa leather in the E46 individual was something else...WOW:-) (Father had a black 330i INDV with nappa champagne -WOW)

Carl, any more pics of the standard Sports Pack interior trim? I'm wondering whether to stay with it, or go with Aluminium?

Not sure I understand you? The standard M-Sport trim is Bushed Aluminium. Its the very same trim that is available today on non M-Sport cars. Sorry, I have no more M-Sport pictures, however take a look at the offcial interior thread for pics this trim. Its brigher than the standard trim.

I too am strugling to see the "Blue" in this material. It must be very subtle. I'm also not keen on the half cloth head-rests.

I'm going to also stick with Black leather - thank for all your comments as they have confirm my decision.

Did you also spot the short-shift gear leaver?

My buddy has the Alcantara/cloth in his 330 ZHP. I love it!
Leather takes more maintenance and will wear and probably crack aruond certain parts of the sport seats. I don't think the alcantara wears the same way (it's better). Also, the alcantara doesn't heat up in the sun as much, it's never as hot as leather to the touch when out in the sun all day. The cloth also grips better in corners.

I'm sure alcantara has it's downsides too, but I haven't seen them yet or ever had to clean/maintain it long-term.

If you can find an E46 330 wtih cloth or another example of the cloth, check it out. You should also save some money over leather.

I'd certainly consider it when ordering if it was available.

I saw your post in my thread re: this - strange thing was , the dealer asked me today if I wanted to spec brushed aluminium - I imagine it shouldnt have been speccable on his system if it was actually in the M Sports Pack???

The headrests do look strange......

You could have also chosen from two optional wood trims - at extra cost, so they may have been trying to up-sell you? Check out the "Build Your Own" link on www.bmw.co.uk. The woods match well with Beige leather.

Same here but a 325, as it drives almost as fast as my E46 330, plus:-

Black Sapphire
Logic 7/DSP Hi-Fi
Bluetooth
Graduated Screen (worth £50, great on days with low sun we get here)
Blinds (must have with kids - makes them sleep)
Rear power outlets (kids)
Heated seats (must have with leather if you park outside overnight in winter here)
Folding/Dimming door mirros (to fit in garage)
Lumbar (added this on, as seats seemed to lack lower back support)
6 CD (may delete due to MP3?)
Xenons and washers (keeps the car looking fesh in a few years hence and washers are a must on UK roads in winter salt spray)
No-smoker (increase storage space but keeps covers)

and we'll get the 18" M wheels, M-door sills, M steering wheel and M short-shift. Dealer also expect a 325i M-Sport to come with chrome tips!

Can't wait for the end of Spetember.

Great spec there - I'm in two minds on the audio - I upgraded to the Hi-fi, not sure if I'll spring for the Logic 7 - I never use any sound processing modes at home, have the Harmon Kardon in the Cooper S, and only use the default setting, so I'm not sure I'd get value from it?

My wife hates heated seats for some reason, even though I do like them - I might sneak them onto the spec yet.....

I think the alcantara/cloth is outstanding, and would be superb with Le Mans blue (or maybe mystic or arctic). I would get it in a snap if offered in the USA.

Garage List
those seats look great, remind me a bit of the M-seats on the Z4 which are just amazing to sit in and drive fast with! I think the cloth is really interesting too, always wanted to try cloth seats in my BMW because I just find it to be more comfortable, image be damned..

I've had the Hi-Fi in an early E46, and it was bad, and no better than standard but louder! Wife has HiFi in here E60 it is okay. Logic 7 is the way to go. Why go half way? You will not reget Logic 7 over H-Fi.

Anyone remember the 'sweaty back' thread? These seats would be cooler in summer, warmer in winter, and hold your butt around a corner better than leather or 'ette.
