435ix - CTS Turbo Lowering Springs

Anybody have experience with CTS springs? They lower 1.6in front and 1.5in rear compared to Eibach Performance springs which lower 0.8in front and 0.4in rear.

I have adaptive suspension on my M Sport

I have adaptive shocks also. From my experience with H&R Sport Springs that lower the car approx 1.5" in the front and 1.0" in the rear with over 30,000 miles.... I don't suggest you getting any springs that lower the car more than 1.0" in the front & rear. The stock adaptive shocks will start to feel weak unless you really don't care. I currently ordered the Bilstein B6 adaptive shocks & Dinan springs that lower the car approx 1.0" all around with the Dinan bump stops to replace the H&R sport springs & stock adaptive shocks.

If xDrive vehicle suspension is lowered (the exact risk envelope is subject to a debate), the front axle bearings may fail. Worth reading:

What do you think about this? I remember you had recommended the Eibach springs to me a while back.

Deferring to johnung due to his experience with Eibach springs.

The unscientific evidence suggests that front axle bearings will not impacted if the xDrive suspension is lowered less than 1 inch.

CTS or Eibach springs: humbly speaking, Eibach springs get my vote.

I read the link that was supplied by cfm56d7b. It’s an interesting hypothesis based on one failure instance. If it was true though I’d expect that we’d have read a much higher incidence of failure.

Plus there are several large suppliers of aftermarket springs for XDrive who limit their front spring drops to about 1.5”. I expect that they have done their engineering evaluations and have determined no liability risk for their companies up to that drop limit.

So it’s probably just an isolated bearing failure. Stuff happens sometimes.

Suspension is not my forte but just speaking from general observations of what i have seen in different threads is that the xdrive front axle issues do seem to be correlated with cars that are lowered. Not sure if there is a clear threshold for lowering, but it does seem to be a risk, with that risk increasing the more you are lowered.
