Yup (puritans). I guess when it comes to prosperity people would slap their own mother just to get a piece.

I wonder how many people on this forum think that the French and Indian wars were between the French and the Indians.

The huge influx of colonists was because of the moola and land, not because of religious freedom.

That was true of the Spanish, but many of the first round of people from England did come for the freedom.

watchin the news right now. 1MIL people marched about a block away from the college I attend. Crazy stuff!! Man I really am pissed off about this whole thing now. I am totally cool with legal immigrants. We cant, and must not, just open our border and let just anyone through. This is freakin ridiculous.

EDIT: those that are already here can become citizens. Freaking this one dude actually said " why do we even have borders?? a man should be able to move around as long as he's not a criminal". WTF is that??? how about we freaking bring everyone who doesnt wanna stay in their country over here? wow Im getting too emotional about this. Some people are just

I don't think there is a choice of anti-immigration, realistically we can't just not let anyone else in at all. Is that really the topic of this thread?

murder is illegal, no matter what reason behind that. illegal is illegal until the court change the law to make it to be legal, but before that, people who think that is legal still is illegal. study the law, people!!! educate yourself.

Nikki you dumb ass. "Illegal," do a little research or go back and learn your highschool history. Your forefathers weren't illegal because Immigrating to this country was not illegal. Modern society has made it so. Moreover, I read complaints about rising prices on gas and everyother product that is marketable. Just wait until illegals are gone. Not to mention the social security system going fuckin bust quickly. If "illegal" immigrants didn't pay into the social security system while not taking out of it, it would've gone belly up long ago.

We are all LEGAL IMMIGRANTS. Why is it that people assume that Illegals have the right to kick sand in the face of thousands of wannabe immigrants who went through the tedious process to come to this country legally? Why is it that certain ppl think that anti-illegal immigration means anti-latin american? Why can't people realize that the US does not have an unlimited supply of resources.

America doesn't have many resources. It gathers them from other counties and I don't think anyone here has mentioned latin america. More importantly, this county's most precious asset and resoure is the people that it is made up of. After all, it's the people that make this country function.

I wasn't specifically refering to this thread, but just with the debate overall. Someone mentions that illegals should be stopped from coming in...and they are labeled racists and anti-latin american.

And when I was referring to resources I was not talking about "natural" resources. I was referring to jobs, living areas, finances, etc. In some areas, welfare and social programs are strained without an influx of immigrants. We need to manage our resources so that incoming immigrants will be afforded the same opportunities and resources as every other citizen. Too many people think just because we live in America or drive BMWs that we can afford to take on a few million illegal immigrants.

well said, with the slight mistatement or misunderstanding that welfare also pertains to gov't subsidizing huge corporations to either produce or stop producing "x" product or other subsidies which are actually the largest part of welfare. Subsidising tax areas so that the wealthy tenth are afforded tax shelters. Offering tax incentives to corporations (making a lot more than the average person, in whole) so that the wealthy who are aware of this can incorporate, form an irrevocable trust and a limited partnership and are afforded all the protections in the world. How about that for welfare.

I am for legal immigration, I guess what I am confused about is all this privileges non-legal immigrates have. Tenchi, you are from Boston. You must have hit a few Dunkin Donuts up here. You realized that more than half of the workers are Brazilian, more than half (believe me I know this) are illegal but what they do is work using a friend's Social Security number. Technically they pay taxes but they pay under someone else name.

So could someone in bullet point explain to me what great rights they (Illegal immigrants) have?

Brazillian, columbian, puerto rican. And I would say less than 2% are illegal. DD got hit up not too long ago and they have learned their lesson. (I dont drink coffee by the way)

Still, what they do doesn't make it legal.
