Drivers beware....

Well, guys and gals, read 'em and weep...especially for those of you who live in Malden, Mass, where the police chief encouraged his officers to give out citations, at least ONE per shift!!!!!

We're screwed now!!

i have noticed more cops around now, especially since cali is running out of money so I guess this is one way of making up for it.

I recently had my car parked on a street in Hoboken, NJ over the weekend. The parking authority changed the signs from 'visitor' to 'resident only' over the weekend and proceeded to ticket me and give me a boot for not being in compliance. The total fines were $200, $50 for the ticket and $150 for the boot. The street was lined with about 60 boots when I found mine. I work in CT during the week and therefore can not fight it. It is horse shit. The ladies at the parking authority were just as pissed as I was because they had to deal with all of the angry drivers. However, I still have to go to trial to get out of it. If your precinct doesn't have enough money, fire a meter maid. Don't screw the people who pay your salary by spending time and money in your community.

[end of rant]

$200 for a freaking parking ticket???
I got a BS parking ticket in Toronto. (I had two parking permits on the dash, one valid and one expired. The ticket maid just looked at the expired one and gave me a ticket.) Since it was only CAD $30 ($25 US) I just paid it. Not worth flying/driving up there to fight it.
Yes I am a firm believer that the authorities are out to squeeze us drivers. The Roundel on the hood certainly does not help.
