Why do others like to stereotype BMW as cocky drivers?

So I was trying to sell parts off my old acura and I approached this. Cocky little FWD talking shit about BMW. I like how they all stereotype BMW as cocky. I mean, I have seen any cars drive recklessly. Not just BMW.

Quote:
I've said it before, BMW driver's are the cockiest drivers... I was on 65 goin' to the Galleria mall today wen I came across a debadged 335 2dr.. I seen his duals, so i knew it was a 335 and I knew I had no chance(it's also pointless to race in heavy traffic).. He pulls into the next lane and I pass him (not racing, just kept my pace of 45-50mph because of traffic) next thing you know he guns it and tried to cut back in my lane but he had no room.. for the next minute or so he would punch it and get inches away from the car in front of him then slam on his brakes(traffic started to build up).. I started to think this guy was crazy and slowed down enough for him to jump in my lane and surely enough he does.. I go to the right lane as my exit is coming up and he tried to cut in after me but there was no room. He swerves around and almost loses control but dosen't.. He speeds up to try to cut me off but rear ends the car in front of him... I had to exit but would have loved to see this guys face... wrecked his new midnight blue 335.... didn't even have plates yet!! Typical BMW Drivers!

There's always some cocky drivers in most brands. Or just insane/stupid drivers.
I just saw a Honda Accord Coupe on the road who refuse to wait for the red light....then she made a right, then u-turn and right again to skip the light....WTF???

As noted I have seen more Honda drivers and other brands who drive like maniacs. Bad driver in any make or model is still a bad driver. Think he was just PO'd at the BMW guy as he did not mention any other BMW incident.

any blind hostility stems from pure jealousy. face it, everyone wants a BMW or any German brand, and not everyone can afford. so how do they make themselves feel better? hate on the people that can actually afford them.

i've seen people do dumb shit in every type of car possible. 350z's, corvettes, corollas, minivans, mercedes, station wagons, it's all the same.

the guy in the BMW in the OP's quote sounded like a jackass though. i'm actually glad he totalled his 335i. that would've been satisfying to see.

Hahahahahaha. I saw that thread the other day. There's another thread about a CL-S with nearly every mod beating a young guy Dinan Stg 3 car. I had to laugh inside, and there's really only one young guy I can think of with Stage 3. Acurazine will always be acurazine. It's sad because we all say that and then end up buying BMWs. You'd be really surprised at how many a'ziners are on e90post now.

In all honesty, most of them are cocky. Read almost any thread in which someone compares a BMW to anything else. BMW drivers feel they've got the best on the road even if something may be comparably better or equal.

Maybe the BMW driver had to REALLY drop a deuce. I know I do the same when the urge kicks in on the road.

That's true of any car forum.

I don't care if it's a forum for 30yr old Yugos... If someone comes along and says they have a better 30yr old beater you'd see half the forum up in arms defending the honor of their precious cars.

It's the person behind the wheel and not the car that makes someone a good driver, bad driver, cocky, reserved, etc. Using the make of car they drive as a sign of someone else's personality traits says more about yourself than it does the other person.
