Well, damn, when will they sell some phone that works for all carriers? Why can't they just all get along? Me stuck with Sprint for almost 7 years now have yield nothing but sh*tty service.

I know this iPhone will probably NOT live up to the hype, just because G4 and the press are all over the damn thing. Any little thing that goes wrong, or don't have, people will be pissed!

I'll wait for iPhone v2.0.

Wow, what an absolute waste of an article. First things first, Windows Vista copied features that were found in Mac OS X Tiger (Instant Search, Flip 3D which is from iTunes 7, Dashboard (is this guy serious? Widgets came out in '05)). Vista is behind, it will always be behind, and it still runs slow as anything with a ton of bugs. Buy a Mac, get Leopard, and have peace of mind. Speaking from experience and using both.

I'm at Apple's WWDC and learning all about Mac 10.5 (aka Leopard). Great stuff and I've seen about a dozen iPhone demos. IMO, great great user interface on the iPhone, but only an average to above average cell phone in terms of functionality.

Wow, I just visited the apple site and looked at some of the iphone video. That phone is out of this world. you can download real websites, listen to mp3's, watch movies, view photos, sent voice encrypted emails, google maps, widgets and more widgets. The GUI is just awesome with virtual keyboard and touch screen interface.

Then on top of that, when you check your voice mail, it list out all your voice mail and you can select which voice mail you want to hear instead of listening to it in order of FIFO.

Can't wait when apple offer the SDK with it.

this is a different case than others phones. this is locked by apple...not sure if they want to loose controls over their phones...another one is warranty issues...some phones like Palm only has warranty if used in the original network

Apple got my

1) "real websites", but no support for Flash and depending how the site layout, the zoom and pan features may not work so well.
2) No iPhone SDK. Apple is only supporting "web apps" through html and javascript via Safari. This is why Safari was released on Windows this week. More market share means more Safari-savvy websites for the iPhone.
3) No file upload support. You won't be able to take a photo and then upload it whatever website. You can email a picture, but that's it.
4) Only Apple widget support. Only widgets that come on the iPhone from Apple will be supported. All those other widgets from third parties will not and cannot be put onto the iPhone. Write those web apps for iPhone support. Here is an example of a third party iPhone web app.

If this was done, at minimum, the visual voice mail feature would be lost. at&t had to change their network to support that feature.

uh...what does it not have? GPS..yea its fine GPS in phones suck anyways. Im not gonna have my iPhone on my car's dash...Rather just get a Garmin it would have a much better GPS since its dedicated and has its own CPU for just GPS and nothing else.

MMS was not denied to be on the iphone..it was just rampent rumors.

3G? okay i dont plan on using it, cuz it has wifi, i am going to use wifi for internet, dont plan to surf the net while im on the road. Nowadays there is free wifi everywhere. Also 3G kills bat life.

Awesome phone...too bad you have to go with the worst cell phone provider to get it. Hopefully they will have unlocked versions for sale for those of us who care about the quality of their cell phone service.
