That's hilarious, actually. I know those police cruisers can't go passed 130mph. I had a police officer tell me that. LA county does have a Corvette police cruiser, though, but it's not like that was the case in this situation. I guess if you're doing 140mph+ just keep going because no one will catch up with you apparently.

+1

I sometimes I do 155 on US27 at night.

is a really long road that have almost no traffic what so ever, the speed limit is 65

I know that if I'm going to 155 and I suddenly there is a cop hidden I'm not going to stop I will take the other exit and if I get caught for another cop I just said that I did not see the 1st one. I'm sure going over 120 is going to send you to jail anyways.

- might have something to do with the fact that they were going 141mph...

OMG!!! What horrible dangerous people!!! They were doing 141mph!!!!

Get a life people. What is it about speed that gets you people on your soapbox so easily? You have no idea of the road, the conditions or the situation. I do 120-140mph to work and back everyday...I guess that makes me an idiot and a bad person and I need to go to jail. What a bunch of simpletons.

First off, you have better roads, better drivers there, and there is faster overall traffic. It does comes down to local conditions. However, imagine if everyone over there slowed down by 50MPH. Consequently, the relative speed difference between average driver and one that wants to do 140 increases significantly. In such conditions, driving faster could easily be a lot more risky (very stupid).

There really are much less stretches of highway that are safe going over 140MPH here. Where I live, the roads are above average but you can't really go much over 100 for long without slower traffic getting in the way.

if I lived in Germany, I'd top out the car on the Autobahns, no doubt about it. USA is a little different. The roads aren't kept up nearly as well, and your fellow drivers are some of the dumbest and most careless beings on the planet (esp if they're on their phone driving an SUV). This is not even mentioning the fact that many people have no idea about car control or what it takes to achieve and maintain it at speed. Bottom line, in Germany speed may = freude, but here it's reckless driving.
