Question Moving To Jersey, where to live?

So my next assignment came down and its to McGuire AFB. I don't know anything about the coast and need to find a place to live in the next month or so. I'm a single guy so I can deal with a studio but need somewhere safe to bed down Heidi. I've been told that living in Philly would be my best bet for nightlife/meeting people and that the towns around the base are pretty sketch. Google maps says living downtown will give me about an hour drive which is cool, but I don't know what it would look like everyday with traffic. Any ideas or suggestions would be awesome!

traffic isn't too bad from philly to the base. I have a friend who does it a lot, and he doesn't really complain about it.

It all depends on what you're looking for. South Jersey runs a pretty wide gammut. You can either live on the west side near the Deleware or the east side near the shore. McGuire/Ft Dix are in the middle. Just stay out of Camden.

Looks like I could save some cash and get a house/condo by staying in Jersey. I had a house in Vegas with a 2 car garage that spoiled me and the car (Heidi).

That's NORTH Jersey. Philly area of Jersey (minus Camden, as said) is nice, so is the shore.

There's a Sally's Beauty Supply on every corner in Jersey. It's like how Starbucks was like 5 years ago.

I live in Cranford (exit 136) There is some pretty decent nite life spots in my area (summit, westfield, mountainside, new providence, and of course cranford) I have about 7 bars within 1/2 mile house so I tend to drink a lot, haha. Then Hoboken, NYC, and the shore are just a short train/car ride away. If you ask me my location is ideal for a single 23 year old.
