HDMI cable, expensive=better?

My question is are those expensive monster hdmi cables worth the $100 price tag most retailers are asking for. I've done some googling and most internet sources say that cheap hdmi cables perform just as well as expensive ones, but of course you can't trust everything form the internet. So does anyone here have any personal experience with cheap and expensive hdmi cables? Are my $1.99 hdmi cables not worth a damn?

Cheap HDMI cables are just as good as the expensive ones. I purchase mine on ebay.

There was another thread about this a while back.

Cliffs: Cheap HDMI are just as good. I have the 3.99 Monoprice HDMI cables and they work just fine.

You can get a little more quality by buying a $20-$30 cable over a $2.99 cable, but monster is WAY OVERPRICED! I wouldn't go over $40 for the cable.

I'd say the really cheap ones should be avoided.

I also say the expensive Monster HDMI cables should be avoided.

If you pay more than 1$/foot of speaker wire, then you should pay for the Monster HDMI cable. But only if your friends can see it. Isn't that why you'd buy it?

Skip google, search the AVS forums.

LOL! Remember, HDMI carries an entirely DIGITAL signal. There is no "loss" like the old component cables where a high quality cable *may* have made some difference. Might as well wrap a Benjamin around a $5 cable if you want an expensive one

Got to cablewholesale.com

As long it is HDMI 1.2 compliant you are good to go. The $$ doesn't get you anyhting unless the run is long

i do have a 1080p lcd tv and a bluray player but I feel like my bluray player isn't giving the quality picture that I thought it would. Thats why I brought up the business about the cables

try www.cablesforless.com
Hdmi is digital so regardless of expensive
cable or not, the end result is the same.
ur paying premium for hdmi if it's thicker/
Shield'd for better insulation. the length on the
other hand may contribute to noise. Try a shorter
cable if possible. Also check ur LCD sett'n to fine pict
if that's an option, good luck.

I agree with the above comments. For a typical 6 foot run, I would buy the cheapest cables you can find. If you need to run significantly farther than that, I would look at better quality. By the way. locally (San Antonio), the Altex computer stores carry two lines of inexpensive HDMI cables. Also, OCT1285, did I meet you Saturday night at the get-together across from Flemmings? Nice (fast) car, if that was you!
Finally, be sure the settings on both your Blu-ray player and your receiver and/or tv are correct so that you are not down-rezzing inadvertently.
Good luck!

Make sure the tips are gold plated. I had HDMI with silver tips and picture quality was horrible.

www.monoprice.com

As others have said, if you're running a long distance, opt for their shielded cable. If not, the regular ones are fine. If you buy into the Monster Cable marketing hooplah, you're pissing your money away. I bought these cause they looked prettier .
http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

Many people on AVS forums have done blind tests with monoprice cables versus the more expensive ones with no visible difference in picture quality.

it's a digital signal, there is no 'higher quality'. It's a stream of binary data on multiple channels... it either works or it doesn't.

Unless you are going REALLY long distances the quality of the cable won't make a bit of difference.

If you have the time and the interest go to Audioholics.com and check out their research on HDMI cables.

monoprice.com! echo echo echo

Best place to buy inexpensive but good quality cables.
Don't let retail shops steal your money for those $100 2ft cables.
