GB: MFactory Helical LSD Group Buy - AU$850 Shipped!

I'm in no way affiliated with MFactory but rather an interested customer if we can get 5 LSDs in the group buy. I believe that they are a sponsor anyway so no rules broken.

MFactory have said that we can mix and match ANY BMW helical LSDs, all for AU$850 each shipped, as long as we get 5 in total! This applies to anybody in either Australia or NZ.

Fitment list can be found here:
http://www.teammfactory.com/helical-lsd_BMW

Please post in this thread AND PM me if genuinely ready to buy one of these.

Info on the MFactory helical LSD can be found:
http://www.teammfactory.com/helical-lsd
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=799541

So far we have:

Small bolted (MF-TRS-05E46A): bradsm87, t651 @ e46fanatics, CCK135I, mcmn
Large bolted (MF-TRS-05E92): huber
E46 330Ci (Unsure if Auto or Manual) - selien @ e46fanatics

I'm keen to get my hands on one ASAP so please tell all your friends, share on Facebook, do whatever you have to do!

Have already done so. The best price they can do has gone up :-(

This GB is now by far the cheapest way to get an LSD.

I am interested in this. Does this group buy come with all the parts needed for the install? So basically I front this $850 and a DIY install and I've got an LSD in my 335i?

Need way more information before I consider entering

Axle seals are highly recommended which are about $12 each from ECStuning. That's it in terms of hardware. If backlash is OK, no different washers will be needed.

I wouldn't recommend to DIY unless you've replaced a diff centre before.

I've just had a similar LSD installed. Advice to me was that axle seals are really a must-do and at the relative low price, should not be an issue. I know that when I researched doing this upgrade, I came across recommendations to also replace the 12 torx bolts that attach each drive shaft (6 per side) to the diff assembly as they are stretch bolts. For more details, see my post on the diff install outlining my experience > http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...4&postcount=92

You will also need diff fluid obviously. I used Redline 75W90NS diff fluid (as ATB type LSDs must NOT have slip additives usually used on most clutch-type LSDs).

I expect such an install is not a DIY for most of us as it requires a few special tools and relevant experience; certainly not me!

OK we have 5-7 people now. The MFactory web site shows the MF-TRS-05E46A as out of stock. I've asked for an ETA.

Will be back in stock next week

We were making a few modifications to the LSD housing to make it more durable and lighter.

Do you have LSD to suit a 130i 6MT?

If your final drive ratio is <= 3.07, MF-TRS-05E46

If your final drive ratio is >= 3.15, MF-TRS-05E46A

Gah this sucks, when I asked Stephen to get on the group buy list, he told me it was not for Oz I ended up having to go through the Sydney office and paid more for it and then I find out about this group buy

Well anyway I finally received it, here are pictures.

I got the MF-TRS-05E46A to suit the small pumpkin 3.46 ratio AT transmission 335i. It came from Taiwan, they didn't put enough padding around it (it's quite heavy at 6kg), it chewed up the padding and got beaten up a bit, even though the outer brown packaging box was intact. There is a slight clicking noise from the slight movement of the gears inside the diff body when turning it end on end, I hope that is normal and not damage from shipping.

The diff has a 167mm diameter flange with 115mm body and is 168mm tall. I hope someone can confirm that is the small pumpkin size. I was told it does not need any housing modifications, but the Quaife install DIY (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=513544) needed the housing to be shaved to fit that one into the housing. I hope someone can confirm we DON'T need to modify the housing to slide the mfactory LSDs into the housing. (It's strange that the Quaife couldn't fit without shaving the housing, it looked to be the same height as the original open diff).

On the plus side, it looks well made. Can't wait to get it installed.

Yes, this is the correct fitment. No shaving is required for fitment. Some images of a recent build:
