Question what is the best DSL and phone like company?

ok..so i'm moving back to san jose sept 1st and need to get sign up for DSL/interent. i am currently using SBC and its about $45 a month. now all i need is DSL. i really dont need a land line. i know i must have one but the cheapest plan aviable is what i am going to go for. i have my cell phone which i use for everything and never use a land line. i havent called any companies yet to see what deals they have but from what research i've done online it breaks down like this.

SBC $45/mo DSL ~$10-15 for regular line
Comcast $42.95/mo if i get cable with them. (most likely)
Verizon $29.99/mo 3 Mbps Dsl speel
Earhlink $49.95/mo DSL and basic phone 1.5Mbps2 Dsl speed
Bellsouth $32.95/mo DSL speed 1.5Mbps
Bellsouth $37.95/mo DSL speed 3Mbps
Bellsouth $46.95/mo DSL speed 6Mbps

if you have hand experinces with any of these companies please tell me how it works out for you. i only have had SBC AT&T. again looking for the cheapest plan (obviously, all of us do) but a good company also.

doesnt SBC/AT&T have plants for like $15.95 a month??? That's pretty much the basic line. I pay $26.95 a month for DSL PLus. Why not get cable though?? You can get it for about $26 a month for 6 months and then renew it after 30 days for another 6 months. And you can keep doing this forever.

The cable dude ran it by me a few weeks ago but I couldnt sign up for it since im in a contract with SBC. I think you can just pay the regular rate of like $45 and then just renew it for the $26/mo. rate. Muahahaha he said most people dont know we can do that. Then again I dont need cable since I dont download anything...

the slowest of the 3 dsl services from at&t (sbc) is $12.95 a month, one year contract, special promotion. requires that you have a land line, and i think the cheapest land line service from at&t (sbc) is $10-12.

I have Verizon and it works fine for me. Never really had any problems with it but they've had like 2 outages in the 2 years I've had service (bout an hour or 2 long each) and a call to customer support got me the info about what was going on. Speed is good too. After I had the service for about 5 months or so they upgraded the DSL in my area from 1.5 to 3 Mbps and didn't change my bill.

I can tell you one thing, Verizon Sucks ass for DSL. I've had so many issues with these fuck nuts that i have had to cancel my service. There technical support is worse than tech support from India or any other country. Stay way.

speakeasy.net will allow you to have a DSL without a land line. Their price is kinda above average but when I was with them, I got almost 100% uptime for my home servers.
