The S2000 that you get for less than 10k will be pretty bad. Even the earliest AP1's (w/many teething problems and a plastic top) and 90-100k mi goes for 9500. The last Prelude would be much less than that and will give you 3-4k in upgrade money.

Wanna buy my '91 MR2 turbo for $9,999?
Seriously, I've been toying with the idea of selling it. It's a great starting point for learning how to drive properly
It's quite difficult to drive this car fast, takes a lot of balls and car control. I haven't gotten either of those traits, but workin' on it
With what time I've spent on the track with this car, I've already developed some nice basic skills
If anyone's seriously interested, I can provide a full list of modifications. A quick sparknotes version = $25k total spent on the car and all modifications

You'd be hard pressed to do better than an e36 M3.

Estoril Blue, just prime.

Either E36 M3 if you need the space or S2000 if you want a great weekend car.

A cheap bullet proof performance car for under $10k? Mustang GT. Not as refined as an e36 M but far cheaper to buy and own.

This is what i was thinking until you said you wanted some handling. If i just wanted a cheap performance car it would probably be a mustang or a LS1 based car, they can be had REALLY cheap.

That being said you said you want something that can handle a little and may be practical and good in the weather (since you have the 135). Looks like im in the minority here but i wouldnt get another car that basically looks the same as the 135i (like i wouldnt get a miata, s2000, z3, or m3). If i was you...

WRX. (AWD, Turbo, 5spd, Cheap, Reliable, Easy to Mod). You can get an 02-04 with less than <100k miles. Choose sedan or wagon. Im a little biased, had two, never had a single problem with either in 80k miles.

Not to argue just to argue, but you can build an absolute beast of a Fox 5.0 for $10k, EVEN IN THE HANDLING DEPARTMENT. Power? Yes. Handling? Yes. I know you're probably not going to believe me, but what I'm saying is very true.

e36 body started in 1992. The e36 M3 came out in 95. A e36 328is is a less expensive alternative to the M3.

Why is that? You'd rather have the S50B30(US) than the S52B32(US)?

You could always try to get one of the 45 Canadian Euro-spec S52 1994 M3's, but unless the owner has no clue what he has, you might not get it for under $10k....
