Help!!!

Ok, so my wife and I were driving seperately and we both noticed a loud noise at one particular spot in the road. Thinking we ran over a rock or something we didn't give it much thought. Well, today I happen to notice a dime-sized paint chip and dent on my wife's rear door; clearly a shot from a BB gun. With a bad feeling I check my car and sure enough there are TWO small BB marks on my door and rear quarter-panel! I am so pissed right now. WHoever this was could have hit either me or my wife or even out 7-month old daughter in the back seat!

Anyway, I posted pics of the damage and was just wondering if any of you could give me a ball-park estimate on what this is gonna cost me. The damage to the Lexus is worse as the paint totally chipped off but my car has two seperate hits. Thanks for the help guys!

*EDIT* I tried posting the pics but they are too big. The damage is just small dents and paint chipping.

Try reposting the picture.

If it is just a BB shot it might be pretty difficult to repair. I have one on my 335 and it left a dent and it chipped off my paint. A body shop said it would cost $500+ since they have to remove the door and bondo the dent, sand it down, and repaint the whole door.

If there is paint work involved expect a minimum of $500. With a dent I would guess $650ish depending on the color.

Well, just got back from three body shops. They all came in with similar figures. Apparently the entire door and rear quarter panel of my car will have to be repainted/blended with filler used on the dents. Cost: $723.

My wife's car apparently has triple-coat pearlescent paint that has to be done in 3 stages. Both of her doors will need to be painted and blended, again with filler work for the dent. They will also have to remove/replace her clear bra covering over the door edges and door handles. Cost: $667.

So some dumbass POS kid with a BB gun has now cost me $1400 in damages. My deductibles are $500 for each car so thats $1k out of pocket (if I decide to claim it which I am still debating).

Just leave it. Definitely not worth it IMO. You could use some touch up paint and paint over the chipped paint so it won't be as noticeable.

I can't just leave it. My car is a lease for starters and I certainly will not be able to stand looking at it for 2 more years....

^Do you drive down that road often? Would be terrible if it happened again after you repaired it.

Believe me I've thought of that. At least I would know what happened at that point and could call the police over right away...

You should be fine if it is a lease. BMW rule: as long it is not bigger than a golf ball you don't have to repair it.
