Your statement is only partly accurate. Some pitt owners train their dogs to be aggressive towards other dogs, but pitts are no more aggressive or territorial towards humans then any other breed. All dogs have the potential to bite or attack you. When you see a German Sheppard with its owner walking towards you do you turn the other direction? Are you aware that most Pitt Bulls are a very loving breed towards people?

It’s always best to show caution when approaching any dog, I always ask the owner if their dog is friendly before I pet it, however being fearful of a dog because of a reputation sucks because they really are and amazing breed.

Many dog breeds are more aggressive than others and that is an undeniable fact. So with that said, most people, like Kenny, are afraid of larger dogs like pit bulls and German Shephards. Pit bulls are so notorious for their aggressiveness in fact that that specific breed is banned in Denver. In fact, the dog breeds most responsible for homicides and serious bites are: pit bull mixes and rottweilers: http://www.dogbitelaw.com/PAGES/statistics.html

So yes, indeed, it sucks to have people scared of a breed because of its reputation but I don't blame them at all.

I highly doubt Kenny would be intimidated if he walks past my dachshunds

No offence but usually smaller dogs are more aggressive then big ones. Diesel was nearly attacked by a dachshund yesterday; he came running like a crack head at us with no leash and barking. The owner was lucky Diesel is not an aggressive dog and that I was controlling him. I simply stood in front of him and he backed down but it goes to show you that size does not matter the owners ignorance and lack off proper training/control led to the dogs unsocial and aggressive temperament.

A Pitt is not aggressive unless it's trained to be.

Yup, I agree with you. Actually in Texas, the #1 biter is the Chow. I excluded the Chow though because most of their bites are not serious, if any.

My point is that people usually aren't scared of the smaller dogs compared to the bigger ones. My boys are soldiers too - I don't even need to stand in front of them to get them to lay on their back and stay still with a T-bone steak in front of them.

It's good to see that you are a responsible owner, dachshunds are a great breed but owners tend to have more then one and they often get a pack dog mentality and can be hard to train.

Dachshunds are also pretty stupid as well. The bigger dogs tend to be easier to train - at least personally. I think one of mines has ADD and Down Syndrome. He keeps raising up his right paw and lets it hang in the air like he's retarded. Either that or he's gay. Could be both.
