Rossi:
“Nicky is one of the best friends I have ever had in the paddock. We were teammates with Honda in his rookie year, 2003, when he was a young beginner in his first European experience. That season ended with the World Championship for me and his first podium at Phillip Island. “A few years we battled against one another for the 2006 World Championship. It came down to the last race and in the end, unfortunately for me, he beat me to become MotoGP World Champion. After the race we shook hands and hugged. “Later we became teammates again in the difficult years at Ducati, where we fought tooth and nail several times, even just to take the last spot in the top five. “Nicky would often come to the Ranch, where it was always fantastic to see him and to try to grasp some secrets, battling together, because he was one of the fastest flat track riders in the world and before moving over to asphalt, he won in the most important American Flat Track races like the Peoria TT. “But my fondest memory of him is when he came to shake my hand after the unlucky Valencia 2015 race, during the victory lap. For him it was his goodbye to MotoGP and I had just lost the championship. His look of support from behind his visor is one of the few positive memories I have of that day. “Come on, Nicky, we are all with you.” |

Nicky is pretty incredible, just had crappy rides after Honda in MotoGP and was the last American in there too until someone else maybe/might show up.
Hope he has a full recovery but his riding days might be over. |

Awful, serious brain injury from everything I've read. Wishing the best for him and his family in this terrible time.

So sad. I have always rooted for him and was hoping he will do well in WSBK. I have 1:12 model of his Repsol Honda from Minichamps. He's always been a class act. Never made any drama off the track even though in my opinion Honda didn't handle him very well especially with what looked like bias towards Pedrosa.
Hoping he does pull through. Hate to see any class act having dealt such a blow like this. |

I'm remember my riding days... loved my Hayden helmet. Hope he recovers stronger than he was before.

Damn, I remember seeing his brother Tommy race at willow springs. Duhamel took a spill at turn 2 or 3 that day, smoked his engine after it flipped a few times. Loved them Ducatis, almost as much as my M3...Very talented racer family, best wishes to Nicki, much respect.

I have all kinds of Nicky Hayden stuff. I own two Ducatis and hated when he left for Aspar, but understood why. I even kept an old MotoGP game for PS3 because he was on the cover. I never got a helmet because I didn't care for the green in it lol but have posters and more.
