This car in black will look mean as hell.
I can completely agree. I'm not one of those people that hate on change from tradition. I bring on innovation and new designs, and Corvette here absolutely nailed it.

I usually reserve my opinion until I actually see a car in the flesh, but so far I like what I see. I've always had a love hate relationship with newer corvettes. Love the performance, hate the interior and switchgear...but massive amounts of torque has a way of making you overlook things. I honestly hope this puts the car where its truly belongs...competing with some of the best cars in the world without having to make excuses for its shortcomings.

First, the "vents" are all functional, even the ones under the tailights. Two, I thought the ZL1 had an ill fitting spoiler until I realized it sat a little off the car for aerodynamic purposes. Wouldn't be surprised if its the same here.

I'm in love. This car looks MENACING!!!

Only thing I don't understand is the 7-speed manual. Why was this chosen?

Same reason Porsche did it, fuel economy requirements.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know the rear vents were functional, or the purpose of the spoiler position.

However, I'm more worried about the first pic where it clearly shows serious fitting issues with the rear hatch. I hope this is still a pre-production model as suggested in an earlier post.

I really want to see it in person. This could be the first American car that I would seriously consider if the build quality improvement is as dramatic as the way it looks.

I don't really like it... same as my opinion of the Camaro, GM's designers have been watching too much transformers/playing with too many hot wheels cars lately.

I like the Camaro least of the new pony car trio because it's just too.. blocky and hot-wheels looking, and this is coming from someone with very apparent mods on his car. The rear on the 'vette looks pretty awful and there's too much black plastic everywhere.

Getting rid of the black plastic and having a better exhaust design would do wonders. It would still be weirdly blocky though, especially in the picture swanson posted a few posts up. I'm sure it'll be an awesome, capable car.. but I'm honestly pretty disappointed in the styling.

Remember when corvettes had nice, elegant lines? That's what I was hoping for:

Something more like this would have been great, more curvy, less blocky:

Ick, the C5 just looked melted and that Stingray homage is weak. If you wanted that, just buy a C3. I'm glad they took a chance and went with something modern.

C5 is possibly the worst Vette of all.

Agreed, calling that elegant is like having fond memories of the last Buick Riviera. If any Corvette had an ugly back side, the C5 wins my vote.

Agreed, but so many folks change the C6 exhaust that hopefully there will be some decent aftermarket setups that don't look so tacky.

Corevettemare kool but there dangerous to drive on the stree unless you baby it. I was hopping for Mid Engine with a more refined engine choice like a turbo six or eight. That would have made me buy one.

You didn't read anything about the handling of the new C7?

Making assumptions is fun.

Yes making one that applys to a car that has had the same characterists since inception. Besides if you knew anything about cars you would understand that most of the problems lies within the powerband and placement of the engine. Which they did talk about.

The entire body shape is driven by the aero/racing group. Everything has a purpose. You will see all the details in real life as I did when I owned my C6 Z06.
The aero details on a Ferrari aren't really apparent in photos either. Much more noticeable in real life/up close.
I like the C7 design a lot! Bravo for building a car that will be really quick right out of the box and for a decent price.
Anyone see how much quicker the $37k 1LE Camaro is that the new Audi RS in the C&D Lightning Lap?
