You can't call CO2 emmission pollution when that's what plants use to respirate.

The bottom line is that HP is like SUVs. Nice to have, but nobody ever uses it. We don't live in Germany with unlimited speed limits, and getting to 60 (mph) is no fun when it can happen with only one shift.

thats funny.

if we get rid of CO2 the plants will die and we'd have no oxygen to breathe.

when there's more CO2 in the atmosphere than the plants can possibly breathe in a year, and humans are responsible for putting it there, then it's called pollution.

CO2 isn't the worst greenhouse gas b/c of it's chemistry, but because of its quantity.

Wow, 728i sounds really underpowered! That is less than 2/3 of the horsepower of a 750i!

You know the methane in cow flatulence is worse than all the cars in the world combined? Just thought you should know

Don't want to spark a debate here, but the whole global warming hype is a scam. Arctic core samples, sunspot records, the mean temperature of neighboring planets rising, and the historical temperature records, and atmospheric gas records support the theory that this is just another astronomical event in a cycle of repeating events. The mean temperature on earth was 4F higher than it is now back in medieval times. Just 30 years ago we thought we were going into a new ice age, which the historical data would suggest we really are.

Totally agree. And Los Angeles doesn't have any smog. Or traffic, for that matter. The media is guilty of putting these ideas into our heads just for a headline.

We have pollution, we are putting a lot of crap out there, but the belief that we're causing a global-scale increase in temperature so erratically is just not true.

anything under 250hp car in the US is clearly underpowered. Any car over 50k must have over 300hp.....

we are only months away with cars that can wipe our asses while cruising at 155mph (with sport package of course)

Just remember when you are looking at the nominal amount in your 401k or the nominal amount of the dow, etc. that it has nothing to do with purchasing power of the currency. You need to look at real amounts and not nominal to know if you are really getting ahead. The gov't CPI numbers are understated for inflation becasue they have every reason to keep them understated.

Just don't let the central and commercial banking system scam you on the realy big tax we pay called inflation (inflation of the money supply that devalues each monetary unit).

Using CPI - the DOw would need to be at about 17000 just to get back to it's high of 2000. Using gold were talking a recent 50% loss in the purchasing power of the US dollar. Th US Dollar index a 33% loss. Our government is borrowing us into oblivion and we better pray that the world conitues to accept our IOU notes (dollars) as the reserve currency of the world (this is already unraveling).

Read this summary and the actual reports if you have time that came out from the OMB and Treasury just before Christmas about the Financial Status of the United States. Keep in mind we are talking only Federeal IOU's, this excludes state, local, and personal debt:

http://www.financialsense.com/fsu/ed...2006/1217.html

When you read there that Federal Debt is now 400% of GDP remember that just before the bubble that popped before the Great Depression debt was at 269% of GDP. We are in brand new territory here.

I'm gettng a 335, but will be driving my 40mpg highway Corolla 4-5 days a week.

Yep, my nominal amount has even skyrocketed since 2k. But true, my salary has not kept pace and I had more buying power in 2k on paper and at highs, than I do today, short of one job-change. When I look at my SS summary, I'll see a few years of gradual increases, then a large one, gradual again, etc.

I just think everything here looks so good on paper. Not only does our govt. borrow into oblivion, how about ourselves? Many people don't even own the cars they drive, they lease. Me? I borrowed nearly 25k to get the 335 coupe. The cash I put down could have purchased a 2k7 Honda Accord EX 4cyl. outright. How about mortgages that are solidly over 5k per month, or couples spending 55% on their income for housing?

But when all is said and done, seems like it could only happen in the good ol' USA....

Cool. I try to keep my debt as low as possible. Will do as you did and put down 1/2 on a 335 and pay it off in 12-18 months. Then its back to working on a relatively small mortgage since I bought my house before the big runup of the last 6-7 years. I don't know how my friends sleep at night with 500 to 600k mortgages (some interest only), cars financed at 90-100 ltv, and making what I make or less.

I respect that. I drive a 98 Nissan daily to work (take the 335 in on a Fri. or if the weather is bad for a string of days, on the day it happens to be good), have only 1800 on my 335 that I got 12/2/06. The d*** thing costs over 70 cents per mile to operate according to edmunds, and the Nissan to me is fully depreciated and probably has at least another 5 years of trouble-free motoring ahead. That's the beauty of buying a Japanese car and keeping it imho. The $800/yr. I pay to insure the 335 is a waste, but I just accept that, sort of a luxury fee that I grant myself permission to pay....(unlike you though I'm taking 5 yrs. to pay for the 335, but at 5.5% *lol*)

Waaaaagh! Now excuse me, I have three garage doors to paint.

I grew up in London and with the exception of the pubs, you can shove it.

Your punishment for telling the truth is, now for the next 30 days, you have to shovel coal into the boiler at the power plant that feeds Al Gore's $30K yearly electricity appetite.
