REPOST? Dunno we had our queens-day this weekend.
Past weekend Nick Heidfeld drove his Sauber F1(750BHP 600kgs) at the famous Nordschleife:

Thanks for the post.
Damn... I wish we had tracks like Nordschleife on the F1 circuit.

I think he ran a 7:29. Did he run the 24hr config with the GP track or just the Nordschleife?

An F-1 car can do 7:29 in reverse. A top F-1 car like Ferrari, Maclaren, and BMW can easily time in the 5 minute range.

his best lap was 8:34 and a top speed of 275 km/h on the long straight.
To give an idea how fast he was going(really slow) check this website out http://www.supercars.net/nurburgring.html with the carrera gt and zonda doing around 7:30 and audi rs4 doing it sub 8min.
I know that they cut out some parts of the track for heidfeld so im not too sure whether he was pushing it or just messing around.
Btw bmw used demonstration tyres and raised the ride height.

Yeah I agree/think that 7:29 sounds high. For some reason I remember me being able to run 6s around the ring in PGR2. I know it's a video game but it's reasonably accurate.

The only problem is his fastest of 3 was an 8:34. WTF? A damn M3 CSL runs 7:50. What a load of bullshit, he musn't have been driving hard at all. That or they had him drive the FULL circuit (the ring + F1 track). Based on the vid I think this is the case.

F1 car, reverse?

It was a demonstration, a PR stunt, why is anyone worrying about lap times?

According to the F1 website, he did three laps of the 20.8km circuit (so that'd be just the Nordschleife, correct?). The car was the F1.06 platform and the best time was 8:34.

Keep in mind this was for demonstration purposes, so lap times weren't a concern. Plus he was running with a raised ride height (4cm in front, 8cm in the rear), "unusually hard demonstration tires", and a short transmission ratio.
His top speed was 275km/h on the Dottinger Hohe straight.

Either way, way to go Nick! First F1 car on the Green Hell in over 30 years.

Laptimes mentioned should be Rennstrecke+Nordschleife times.???
It was a publicity stunt afaik.

Civil car Nordschleife laptimes are different. BTG times for civil cars are mentioned sometimes as well.(From Bridge to Gantry)

http://bridgetogantry.com/index.php?...d=25&Itemid=45

And here:
http://20832.com/?rubrik=nordschleife&lang=eng

"The fastest lap on the Ring recorded Stefan Bellof 1983 with his Group C Porsche during practice in 6:11 min on Nordschleife with 20,832 km distance."

Bellof died in a terrible crash with his 956 entering Eau Rouge at Spa Francorchamps in 1985.
