Jeans..how much would you spend & Y?????

Lately i've been questioning the prices of denim jeans esp ones that cost in excess of $200. To be fair and not to shoot it down so quick, why would YOU be willing to pay so much? Instead why not get 4 -6 pairs of Levis for the same two smacks which will most likely wear and last just as long if not longer. Is it the material....the fit....the design...or the wash?

jeans... why buy clothes when you can buy mods!... or why buy mods when you dont have any money... that sounds about right.

I would spend up to $300 if they were 100% comfortable and fit my style. I don't set price limits on clothes. If I like how they feel or look I will cop them.

Good thing I live in Hawaii no need to worry about spending all that money on jeans since all I wear are shorts t-shirt/tanktop and sandals.I love the tropics! I think I have worn jeans a few times

The most Ive spent was 200.00 on a pair of Diesels last year. I usually buy from Abercrombie & Fitch and they run about 80 to 100, which is not too bad. I like how they feel, fit, and wash.

I havent purchased Levis since the 80s.

Thats just like saying " Any car over 25,000 is a waste of money." And most jeans last alot longer than cars.

Same here. For the additional cost, you get a better fit, quality, options (in regards to washes), materials (selvedge denim, which is made on older shuttle looms).
I believe in quality over quantity. So in response to the OP on buying one pair vs. 4 cheap pairs; buy the one pair... then watch as your other "cheap" jeans collect dust.

I used to buy cheap jeans since they were, well... cheap.
I've since donated them to charity, and began collecting nice denim.
I have:
2 pairs of Diesel Jeans - $200 & $160
2 pairs of Levi's - $80 & $130
1 pair of Ernest Sewn - $190
1 pair of Kenneth Cole - $80 (my bartending jeans)
2 pairs from Express - maybe $35 each (I only wear these for yardwork)

These have been purchased over maybe 4 years, and I'm at the point now where I won't need to buy a new pair for a few more years.

How many pairs of jeans do you really need anyways.

Not true. There's selvedge vs. non-selvedge vs. half-selvedge denim. Raw-denim, natural vs. synthetic indigo, and the weight of the denim.

That's like saying "what's the difference between a $15k Honda Civic sedan and a $60k BMW 550i?" They're both functional transportation and do the same job.

True... the majority of the things discussed on this board are entirely opinion based. It's just that in most cases it's dealing with cars, and we all seem to be on the same page there.
My response was to your "denim is pretty much denim" comment. If you have other things you prefer to spend your money on, then by all means, do that. Like you said, to each their own.

Ok my whole life I've gone through stages.

In high school I did the super baggy down your asscrack jeans look. They were mostly $40 jeans which I thought were high at the time.

In college I bought levi's and a few other brand jeans because honestly I didn't know where i was in terms of my own style. Levi's are good quality jeans for the price but typically offer little in terms of style. I probably paid around $40 for these. I don't wear any of them anymore.

A couple years ago I started reading into style and learning a lot about clothing and how clothing should look on a person, or better yet how it should fit correctly. I pretty much replaced my whole wardrobe, I bought shirts that were tailored and fit, pants that were flat front and no cuff and threw out all the pleats, bought all new sweaters, sneakers, high end shoes, etc. Made a world of a difference. The same is true with my jeans.

I think jeans are overpriced as they are. With designer jeans you are paying for the name, paying for them being hand worked, and sometimes hand cut, and sometimes you are paying for the material. I didn't go the dry selvage jean route because they are too much work, but I did end up getting jeans that fit me exactly how I want them to and I ended up paying $100-160 for them. No regrets, I love how they look on me and since I rotate them frequently I hopefully won't wear them out anytime soon. I have yet to find cheap jeans that fit me how I want, when I do I will snatch them up quick.

I buy most of mine from Guess. Under $100 and they fit and feel great. Banana Republic also has some pretty good jeans for guys.

I live in my Seven jeans, but only spent around 200 for them.

They are so soft they almost feel like linen.

As long as they are comfortable and look good, you can't put a price on that. Usually I just buy Levi's though, but I have not bought a pair of jeans in like a year, I prefer slacks.

I didnt mean it in a bad way, sorry. They usually wash and last longer, Also only certain jeans fit me well (and they dont make me look fat. J/K )

Believe me, Ive tried alot of jeans in different price ranges, but most dont fit me well and dont wash well at all. If I could just get Levis to stop going up my Butt, I would be happy to purchase them.

Also, I dont want a FLAT butt or a pair of jeans to give me "a case of the no ass" , if you know what I mean.
