Also, we don't get any snow here. In Tahoe the base is 30 feet. Tahoe is 6-7 hours trip.

San Diego also turning too ghetto. El Cajon, National City, Chula Vista - pretty much almost all of San Diego south of the 52 has gone ghettofabulous. Too many thugs, gangsters, car theft (hey, we're right next to Mexico). In fact, almost every apartment complex here in the luxury of La Jolla gets about 2 cars stolen *PER MONTH*.

So I won't be feeling too bad moving out SD into high-flyin' college town of Ithaca this August!

Man that aint all true. You have to go to the right beaches. I mean your probably talking about Mission beach, pacific beach..its gross. But i go to marine st in la jolla, its nice.

Chula vista has gotten very modern. Homes out there are just as expensive now. Just like every city, we have our bad areas, but THATS EVERY CITY. And our areas compared to Harlem, sao paulo, La..whatevea is actually nice haha.

I have to admit though, no offense but dayum there are SOO MANY mexicans here now. I went to target last night and atleast 5 guys came up to me and were like "hola senorita, que bonita". Im like homie this is AMERICA!

You're right all places have their bad parts. Crime/gangs/drugs have been increasing in San Diego pretty fast the last decade, though.

Also, your comment regarding beaches - there are a lot of pretty/clean ones, indeed, but not a lot. Like you, I only go to the La Jolla shores beaches (next to the cliffs and mansions). Those beaches are so clean sometimes you don't even see footprints for miles. But now that I have these crappy pair of dogs, I can't bring them to "doggy-unfriendly" beaches and have to stick with the lame, dirty, crowded Ocean Beach.

EDIT: Bella, you're on your own regarding the Mexicans because I didn't say (or intend to imply) anything against Mexicans...just that San Diego has one of the highest car theft rates in America because once a stolen car crosses the border into Mexico, it's never coming back home.

Eeek, i wasnt trying to sound racist or ignorant. Seriously. But im not alone, my roommate feels the same way. Everytime we go out the mexican guys (im talking the illegals) are hollaring, whistling, ..etc. And they dont even speak english. It just bugs because these families come over the border (most of the time illegally) and then they have 5 kids, demand welfare, insurance, medical care..etc. I agree that they do help when it comes to work.. they are very strong willed workers.

squawks - where in La Jolla do you live? A guy I know had his car stolen in Renaissance a while back. Thing was gone in no time flat. Granted it was an Integra, but still, he was gone for 20 mins and *poof*.

First of all...Chula vista, bonita, etc...has ALWAYS been ghetto!! Where have you been?? Its just that the middle class in the past, did not need to move so far south because they could afford real estate further north. But now...they need to expand into the DEVELOPED areas due to market values of homes...and all of a sudden the area looks ghetto to the middle class...c'on, give me a break.

Second...yeah there are a lot a Mexicans...many legal and many illegal. Why do you see so many...cuz its right across the freaking border to mexico. If you were on the east coast..you would say..lots of Cubas, Puerto Ricans, etc. What I do not get is....everyone says..this is AMERICA, learn english...or go back to mexico. WTF??? CALIFORNIA WAS MEXICO before the US took over the land and started shipping people back to mexico on trains. Ever wonder why all of the names cities in this state are in SPANISH (yes, I know Spain was involved there, but it was established as Mexico)...geez.

Lastly...yes, many of the Latinos in SD are poor. Many are able to utilize some public services. But trust me...they do not suck as much money out of the system as you would like to believe. Many work way below minimum wage, for hours that only existed back during the Depression, at multiple jobs! When was the last time you saw a Mexican sitting next to a freeway entrance with a sign saying "homeless/veteran/ whatever...please give me money cuz I am too lazy to clean houses/pick oranges, sell fruit or flowers."
