Los Angeles: Need to rent a 335d ($100/hour No Driving Involved)
Hello all:
I am an automotive enthusiast interested in a different brand, MBZ, but thought I might turn to this community for assistance. I am presently looking to rent a 335d for a few hours starting at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. There will be no driving involved other than moving the vehicle around a dealership. The vehicle would at all times remain at Center BMW in Van Nuys. I am an attorney and working on a case involving a 335d. The car was stolen and burned, but the DDE was unaffected and remains in tact. I need to have the DDE read. I have learned from the techs at Center BMW the only way to do it is to swap the DDE into a 335d or last gen diesel X5 that has a wiring harness (the vehicle at issue does not). The senior tech at Center BMW would remove the DDE from your 335d, swap in the one mentioned above, read it and put yours back. I understand this will not in any way damage or affect the vehicle. I will pay $100 an hour for the car for a minimum of two hours (i.e. $200), and a maximum of $500 for five hours. If anyone is interested in this offer, please contact using the information posted below. I would be happy to answer any additional questions. Thank you for your time. Jordan S. Jordan BMW can do this at the facility in New Jersey each cars ECU is specific to each VIN and they might throw many codes and MAYBE if Im not wrong lock out that ECU, I suggest you contact BMW Headquarters on this unless this is a tort against BMW itself.

Thank you for your reply and the information. From what I've been told by the regional travelling tech for Southern CA, the DDEs are actually interchangeable. The action is not against BMW.
I would love to just send it out, however, there are other attorneys involved in the case and everyone wants to monitor the process. So, mailing it to BMW is not a viable option. - Jordan |

I have a buddy who is interested but feels your price is too low. Via his e-mail reply:

The 335d's for sale at local dealers aren't able or willing to do the deal and then have DDE's swapped? Why run the risk? Good Lord this is an awkward proposal.

You are on the right end. He is on the wrong end.
I am just down the hill from you. :-) To the OP, I am curious if you also represent any Nigerian oil interests? |

No, but I do have access to a multi-million dollar eastern European bank account. I only need you to wire me $5,000 so I can give it to the bank manager and access the funds. I will, of course, split the recovery 50/50 with you.
