My First Porsche: 2013 Boxster S

Hi all. I know this is a place for BMWs but as I still own one and very much respect and love those cars figured it would be okay to share my new addition, albeit a Porsche.

The car arrived Monday afternoon. Just in time for Christmas. Needless to say I love it. Here are a couple of pictures. I had them install the sport exhaust before shipping to me and I am very glad I did. It sounds great.

Gorgeous! I'd go with the Boxter S over the Cayman if I lived in California too!

Congratulations!

Thanks guys! I agree there is definitely something to be said about the pure nature of a manual, especially in a sporty car like this. Had porsche offered the new 7 speed manual that you can find in the 991 I would have considered it. That being said I am very happy with the PDK, very fast gear changes.

The interior is great, very nice materials and very well laid out. The touch screen is a very nice addition too, especially as I do not have a multifunction steering wheel. However, I do prefer the BMW IDrive user interface better.

I pulled up next to a new Cayman the other day and it reinforced (for me) that the Boxster was the right way to go. I do have some regrets about canceling my '14 911 4s order but I think the Boxster S is a perfect fit for me at this time. Plus with the newly released numbers of the F80 M3 it is hard argue with that kind of performance and functionality when comparing it to the very high cost of a 911 (as tremendous a car as it is).

Just curious, did you have your mind set on a Porsche, or were you open to other cars?

Did the new Jag F-Type cross your mind?

I was also considering the Aston Martin v8 Vantage (coupe). The new jag F-Type is a beautiful car but I do not know much about it and I have never been much of a Jaguar fan. From what I have read/heard the ride quality is not the best? However, I honestly believe it is personal preference and all relative to what a person has experienced before/wants from their cars. I would have to give it a test drive before I could really give an opinion of it. I was pretty set on a 911 but in the end decided to save some money and wait before placing a custom order on that car. I could not be more happy with my decision to go with the Boxster S.

Curious as to your opinion of base cayman vs m235i test drove the base cayman and loved it, but it felt a little too slow and costs 7k more

Saw one of these on the road the other day and its definitely the best Boxster yet. I don't like convertibles myself so I prefer the Cayman but these look fantastic in person. Congrats!

Very nice choice. The new Boxster/Cayman design is one of the best in the industry.

Whats the exterior color of your Boxster?
It looks like my '11 C4S, which is platinum silver.

The Porsche interiors are nicer than the BMWs. But yes, I agree. The base Cayman and Boxster are lacking in HP and torque. Honestly, I would save up a little more and get the "S" models, you won't regret it. I always buy used cars. It saves money and you can find them really loaded with options you might not put on a personal build do to cost. The 2013 savings were great which is why I took the plunge! That being said the 4 year maintenance/service plan on a new BMW is very comforting and a tremendous addition. Definitely try out the "S" models and see what prices you can find, then go from there.

It is the same! Platinum Silver on Espresso Leather. Very happy with my pick.

car looks amazing. i love it.
while everyone says should have gotten the manual, are the ones that hasn't driven the pdk. I am all manual kind of guy but this iteration Porsche just got it right plus 1 when they designed the pdk.

LOVE the boxster.

My '11 C4S is PDK w/Sports Chrono. I've had manuals before and its fun. But Porsche's PDK is the way you want to go if you want to go fast (faster than manual) and its eerie telepathic in terms of knowing what gear it should be in. My 997.1 is 6-speed manual.
