E82 fog lights not working
Help!
The fog lights don't work. I just bought a 128i M-sport w/ fogs The car has depo V2s installed now. The car has latest 11” linux gauge cluster. No error on the dash. No current faults from INPA. If I remove a headlight bulb it throws a code. When i turn the fog lights on, i get a fog indicator on the dash. I bought new bulbs. LED no change. Halogen no change. (Both bulbs installed as a pair) The bulbs were each bench tested with a variable 12vdc PSU. All bulbs work on the bench. I cleaned the cars fog light plug contacts up with sandpaper. No change. Fog voltage at lamp connector is: 10.7 vdc w/ car off. 12.1 vdc w/ car on. I reinstalled the orginal halogen headlights. No change. Everything seems normal? What am i missing? Why no faults i remove a fog bulb? Is it coded out by the PO? It’s like I have voltage with no amps? Help Last edited by e82unicorn; 04-19-2024 at 05:46 PM.. |

Answer
Update, I solved the problem. The car had been previously coded by the PO at some point. The give away was that fogs with no bulbs did not throw any codes. After buying an OBD2 bluetooth adapter and the app BimmerCode. I gave these settings a look. It turns out, the fog brightness level was set to off! Hence, voltage present but no amps. I read every thread on the interent and this was never mentioned. Hope it helps the next guy! Cheers Mate! |
