there are many topics on this already.

to help people assist you please answer the following:

1. Vehicle model
2. Year of manufacture (use vin at bnwfans.com if you don't know)
3. What cable? Picture is helpful.
4. What is the exact error you have.

I'm having the same issue. I don't mean to thread jack but I figure we're having the same issue. I have a 2008 335xi. I have the BMW standard tools installed along with the driver for my K+ DCAN (ordered off of eBay with good reviews) I know some people say the cables don't work but I think it's got something to do with setup issues. The driver is installed and in device manager I changed the COM port to COM1. There are no other devices using COM1

Check your comport settings. Make sure the port number is the same as in obd.ini.

Also, set latency to 1 and check you have the latest version of ediabas installed.

Your cable should be fine.

Double check comport settings. That's what was causing my issues. Like Sensible said, check the latency. Mine was set to 16, changed it to 1 and all is working fine.
