Why is M Performance grill black?
This might be a trivial question to some but I was wondering why is it color black for M Performance grill?
Is there something on the material or the design or does it just look cool with black? |

I don't think the Phoenix Yellow one went down as well with the Focus Group!

Because many BMW owners were painting/plasti-dipping/powder coating their chromed grills in black.

...also keep in mind that before "black" was the next best thing, M3's already had fairly dark grill slats anyway (..kinda like a shadow chrome) paired with the chrome surrounding. I guess BMW decided to take it a bit further.

I am pretty sure they paint it black because people will pay 1000s more to say they have that color.

didn't expect that.
I've been to Germany and hardly have seen any dark skin there. anyway, so would you guys say black is sportier for any car, or it is something specific to BMW. Since there is no materialized reason for it, I honestly think it should depend the colour of the car, when the car is dark coloured (black or carbon black) I feel those black grills are very cheap. |

I think the better question is why are the grills on the M Sport package chrome surround when the rest of the car's trim is shadowline...gotta be the dumbest thing I've seen.
