I know what you mean, but I vote for this "realistic" presentation. The smooth water has really become "the standard" these days, but I like seeing this look occasionally.

The DR is so high here that he'd really need a strong GND filter to balance out the light.

Incredible light in the GC Chewy. That's a wall-hanger.

Thanks, Dave. I'm planning on printing out a couple of my favorites and hanging them around the house. Once I get enough, I can just rotate then in/out of their frames (assuming they have the same aspect ratio).

Thanks, Mark. I took that while I was driving around, north of the Grand Canyons, about halfway between Page, AZ (where I took the pic below) and Zion National.

DC isn't the only one at a conference this week. We're in Nashville (also known as NashVegas). We're in a brand new hotel that is very nice, but I didn't end up with as nice a view as DC.

Interesting discussion. I could go both ways, and frequently try both short and long exposures, but on that particular day, I was just playing tourist. No tripod, no filters, etc, so I pretty much did the best I could exposing for the shadows without completely blowing the sky out.

I would love to go back up that way with all my gear. Just a matter of time off like always

I have almost the same shot at the same angle, Mark!

Did you go inside? It's pretty cool.
