I would remove the vent, uninstall the p3, straighten/flatten the strips and reinstall

A little heat might help too - put some tinfoil on something flat and then lat it on that and hit the back of it with a hair dryer to warm it up and it should go back to its original shape.

Yeah I would bud, but I'm just not good at removing these sorts of things- believe it or not a dealer installed it for me...Prestige BMW in Ramsey when they were putting my Dinan stuff in.

Removing it would involve removing my trim, and I'm just not ready to do that- at least not this time of year.

Wow that's actually a pretty good idea Rob- hopefully it works. Truth be told though, I am seriously disappointed in how flimsy these little plastic pieces are that qualify as a "vent". To think I paid 60 bucks extra for this "option" when I ordered the gauge...

It's really not that hard to remove or install the P3 gage - if you would have given it a try 1st time you would have seen.

Those fake vent bars that are part of the P3 gage are metal BTW, not plastic

I really don't see any other way to get them perfectly flat again other than taking out the gage and flattening - even if you pry gently on them from the front side while it is installed they will still never be able to be made perfectly flat...

I took all my dash trim off the other day when it was 16 deg here

Swapping out new switches with blue LED backlighting instead of the orange

It literally only takes 3min to pop them all off even with disconnecting any wiring connectors

Trim is snap together - it is pretty rigid and has a heavy backing and just clips in, i usually just get my fingers behind the edge and work it out from the end - not too hard, just some spring clips and will be warm in the north east today and tomorrow, so a good time to work at it!

aww man..sorry to hear this. I would have helped you if you lived closer. The install is reasonably easy. I bought the vent too as I just wanted an easy swap.

Thanks buddy- yeah, it really sucks... all of the cool folks live so far away from me

I do know there are a few local folks around here that would be good for some meets and get-togethers- perhaps we can make plans to get together someday when the weather gets better next year, how about it guys? (And girls too)

I'm always down for a meet, and the trim is incredibly easy to get out. Did it with my hands in about 2 minutes up at school this weekend. Just get in there and pull it out. You can use a credit card to help if you don't want to wedge your nails back there.
