Drugs>Child Molester

Look at Mike's funeral, regardless of her addiction, she made a huge dent in the business. One that'll never be forgotten.

I just don't understand why everyone needs high profile people to be perfect human beings.. Are any of us perfect? I sure as hell know I am not. What makes them any different?

No one here is celebrating Whitney Houston the person.. they are celebrating Whitney Houston the entertainer... Just like Michael Jackson...

You put millions in my hand, and access to a mountain of blow, I would substantially lower my life span. So would every person hating on her, it's just the typical build them up, break them down mindset.

She raised the bar so high, it made the entire music world raise to compete. You don't forget people like that over some booger sugar.

We don't have to invade, just send a memo and you'll surrender.

Yea, I like all my movie and music stars to be druggies and die well before their time.

Exactly, which is why I really don't care that she is dead. People die all the time, so why should I be sad, because she was famous?

Because of what she did before she died, before yesterday her career was over, so the drug use is irrelevant. Just as if she walked off stage forever and never touched drugs. If you can't grasp her talents and footprint in music, no point debating with you.

You're right, at this point her career was over. But that doesn't make the drug use irrelevant. While she was still active, she was wrapped up in drug use and had many issues with her performances because of it. So, I think it's pretty relevant.

Sure, she did great things for herself and was a music star with a great voice.

What did she do for me, at all? How did she impact your life so much that you're sad she's gone?

She raised the bar. I wasn't sticky residue in my dad's sack when Elvis was alive, but he transcended music. Whitney did this for her genre, she inspired new artists that sometimes helps me get through the day today.

Greg Maddux didn't directly assist me in baseball, but he inspired me to be a better player when I did play.

It doesn't have to be direct to affect someones life.

Right, but you played baseball, so you picked someone to look up to because he did directly relate to your life in a way.

I admit that she'll be missed by people, but I think there are a lot better people out there to look up to as role models, not someone who killed herself with an addiction problem to drugs. And the hoopla that comes with it and the social media outcry over the death of someone like her makes it even worse. Sure it's sad to see someone so talented die, but people glorify it and place her on a pedestal, when in reality she wasn't really someone all that great to look up to.

As V stated, she shouldn't be idolized as Whitney Houston from New Jersey, she should be idolized as Whitney Houston, the greatest voice of all time.

People who choose music as their career look up to her as I did Maddux. Without her, there would be way more Rebecca Blacks out there that aren't already. Music is one of the biggest industries in the world, so it affects many people.

Kobe Bryant allegedly raped that girl, so if he died tomorrow no one should be sad, he did nothing but rape women.

Then you'd have to start paying for healthcare like the rest of us...not worth the cheaper car discount...not by a long shot

Kobe wasn't found guilty of a crime. Whitney admitted to being a druggie.

But I get it, we're talking about two different Whitney Houston's... I see. I didn't know there were two different people here, the Wikipedia article only mentions one.

You're right, it's not worth arguing....

I suppose you don't think the below should be remembered, they enjoyed drugs occasionally.

Babe Ruth
Mickey Mantle
Jimmi Hendrix
Kurt Cobain
Michael Jackson
Elvis
Jim Morrison

Being remembered is one thing.

Posting on Twitter about how you're in tears because they are dead is a totally different thing.

Note, I never said she shouldn't be remembered. But being sad that she died? Nah...

I agree the extremists are looking for attention on FB, but that's society. I won't shed a single tear, but I will remember the day she died, and what she did for music.
