Road Trip Across America --- Need Advice!

I'm taking a road trip across America(not quite across America due to time/money) with the family. We will be driving in our GX 470. California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, and Minnesota are the only states that I have been to. This trip will be about 3 weeks long.

Since most of you E90posters are from all over the country, maybe you can point out some interesting facts or things to do or see in your fabulous cities/states(within maybe an hour or two drive from my driving course --- see map). Thank you for any suggestions!

1. Starting Pointing: Southern California
2. Las Vegas, Nevada
3. Salt Lake City
4. Old Faithful, Wyoming
5. Mount Rushmore, South Dakota
6. Sioux Falls, South Dakota
7. St. Paul, Minnesota
8. Chicago, Illinois
9. Indianapolis, Indiana
10. St. Louis, Missouri
11. Kansas City, Kansas
12. Denver, Colorado
13. Albuquerque, New Mexico
14. Flagstaff, Arizona
15. Laughlin, Nevada
16. Ending Point: Southern California

The Map kind of show where we will be traveling.

Don't forget teh Badlands and Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. I'd take a good look at the National Forestry Service to get an idea of which parks are along the way. Are you brave enough to walk out over the grand canyon on that glass bridge?

Are you going out the southern or northern route? And When? I'm taking a similar southern route as far as New Mexico starting on the 29th. Look for some Indian reservation stops along the way down south.
