small 4-stroke engine maintenance?

A neighbor gave me an Ariens 2-stage snowblower with a 4hp 4 stroke Tecumseh engine that had been sitting in the garage. Other than changing out the old gas and maybe a new spark plug, what other maintenance needs to be done? Oil change?
TIA!

Not much really. Just change the gas, oil and spark plug. My dad bought our Ariens snowblower that has a 10 hp Tecumseh motor about 15 years ago, I'm guessing. I was really young at the time and it was before they built our new house, so that number should be pretty accurate. That's all the maintenance we've done on it since we've owned it and it still runs like a tank.

How long has it been sitting?

I would pull the spark plug, spray a little lube in and turn the engine over a few times to make sure all is well.

If it doesn't work properly with fresh gas etc. the carb may need to be taken apart and rebuilt.

Good luck!
