You must be miserable. All you do is shit on posts in the Off-Topic area. Let people discuss what they want to discuss. You must hold one of those gatekeeper professions, like a school teacher, so you can enjoy the pleasure of controlling people's lives and gaining satisfaction from having a say in what happens. Go have a coffee and get laid, you need it.

$80 really? You can't even buy a lunch for that....wtf can you but for $80 now days.....thats just stupied.....people pay 2500 for laser jammers, this would be great for city driving as it is all photo for the most part. A realistic price in my opion as long as it is not some POS would be 400-600. I mean my 9500ix is great for the most part in the city, but has fucked me a few times, seems to work way better on the highway.

So, if it does not obstruct the plate, you're probably proposing an lens-detecting laser blinder...possibly IR. Most red light cameras are behind little tinted windows though. How would you tell the difference between that and all the other thousands of windows around you?

Lunch...which usually involves two ppl... at a decent restaurant.

Soup-6 to 8 x2
Entree-18 to 30 x2
Desert- optional to 8 x2
Drinks 6 x 4 ( 2 each the usual)

This ain't no ballin restaurant and it averages (averaged everything minus the drinks) to $94 plus a 22% tip which is 21 dollars so....$115 for a average lunch. I meant a good lunch, not a burger.

If you consider that a typical lunch, you're either loaded or flat-ass broke.

I think a better comparison is we can barely fill up our tank with $80...

The op says this works for red light cameras only... not photo radar, not laser, not speed traps. Red light cameras stick out like a sore thumb if you are looking for them. Also my 9500ix tells me when I'm approaching one. If this thing acted like a laser shifter, radar detector, and hid my plate should I somehow fail to notice the camera I would gladly pay more than $80.

It would work for photo radar and photo laser (not that we have much photo laser in the US); basically anything with a camera involved. It wouldn't work for normal speed or laser traps.

Your 9500ix doesn't tell you where any mobile speed cameras are.

Would your theoretical product block only the plate or take out the entire photo? The 9500ix from my experience gives me about 50-100 meters warning for mobile photo radar vans.

I don't understand how that's a lot, going to lunch like 3 times a week, and then your usually only paying the bill 1/2 of the time. As for the tip, 18% is the average tip, so not wanting to look cheap, give an extra more. Like flame all you want but,if driving any mid to upper priced BMW, this shouldn't even put a dent in your wallet....

I never called you an idiot but I'll reiterate unless it acts as a laser shifter, radar detector, and blocks my plate should I not see the obvious vans and 12 foot metal poles, I would not be interested in paying more than $80. Red light camera tickets can be easily disputed, photo radar fines get cut almost in half if you go to court I dont understand why you are so butthurt over what I would be willing to pay as the op asked what we felt would be acceptable.

No interest really, not trying to bag on your idea, just giving you feedback. I've gotten so used to cameras on every light here that I juat make sure to stop. Running a red here is way expensive.

Chicago:

$50 for getting caught running a red light
$250 for so much as being within the city limits and having ANY tint on the front windows

I'd pay a lot more for a tint that could detect the presence of a cop and adjust itself accordingly. Whoever said $2500 for something that blocks your plate from a red light camera must live in a city/area where they have stiffer fines and penalties for it. Plus, IIRC, there's no penalty to your actual driving record here.

Is your idea classified as an "intentional transmitter"? I know you probably don't want to let the cat out of the bag as far as the specifics go, but even if you get something like this to market, its success will surely spearhead an attempt to ban it. So, the better it is, the more likely it is to get shot down.

Anyway, good luck.
