In the beginning of a home renovation and seeing crazy lead times for kitchen appliances and want to try to put in an early order. Curious to hear what good or bad experiences you guys may have had recently with appliance brands. General reliability experiences, favorite brands and general appliance input all welcome here.

I am considering a zline 36" gas range and microwave as I have a family member who is a vendor and have a few friends who have had great experiences with zline last couple of years. Want to keep dishwasher and fridge same brand, considering GE Cafe or Bosch!

Miele or Bosch for dishwasher.

We have all Monogram appliances - gas range, hood, fridge, microwave, dishwasher. We've had them for 9 years - over that period, the fridge needed 2 repairs (one covered under 5 yr warranty) and the dishwasher needed 1 repair (out of warranty).

Overall, very happy with Monogram. if I had to do it all over again, I'd change the dishwasher to one of the brands listed above - Monogram is too loud.

We have Thermador everything with an LG fridge and they all have been great.

Thermador is owned by Bosch btw.

We are happy with our Bosch dishwasher. GE electric cooktop (not induction) has lasted over 20 years, but nothing special about it. Everything else from GE, Samsung and LG has been mediocre to bad. Interested in others' experiences as we may also update our kitchen and invest in better appliances.

Some years back Bosch had a wide spread issue with dishwasher control panel circuitry burning up. Seemed there was no recall.

Have had for a few years now a Miele dishwasher, very nice, doesn't like liquid dishwasher detergent works best with powder. Very quiet.

Our Fisher Paykel appliances have been a mixed bag. But the local vendor may be partially to blame.

Electric LG range glass top also has a widely known circuitry panel issue, easy fix when searched online required a simple disassemble and cleaning of control panel. Then a burner went out.

All these issues occurred under 10 years. I kind of expected a 15 year lifespan for all these products.

Back in January, our large Bosch clothes washer finally grenaded itself after 15 years. We replaced the washer and dryer with GE's top-of-the-line washer/dryer units. The decision was based on availability at the time, not needing wifi and steam in the dryer or any of the other enhanced features. Even then, we had to buy the washer and dryer from two different places, and they were the last of each that were in stock in our area. (My preferred appliance store couldn't get me a front-load washer from *any* manufacturer for 3-6 months at the time.)

With the chip shortage, shipping delays, and great resignation only making things worse since then, you may have to take what you can get versus finding what you want.....

Any new appliance is made like crap and the manufacturer cuts corners. I don't care if it's Viking or Miele or whoever.

It's not the brands' fault either. There's a good reason why appliances that are 20+ years old are made infinitely better and hardly need replacing. I had a stacker setup for washer / dryer that lasted 15+ years (and was 20 years old when I inherited them) before they went out

KitchenAid is garbage, these days. My $3,800 refrigerator has been leaking from the Ice Maker since the month I bought it. Door has been replaced twice, and last week, it decided to stop working, completely, for 2 days. The motor just clicked, and clicked. I came home on day 3 and it mysteriously started working, again, and, has worked ever since. I also had the house built about 5 years ago with all Kitchen Aid appliances, well, Im the only one in the house, so I never use the dishwasher, until one day I decided to try it. Well it doesn't dry dishes. i ran it for 6 loads one weekend, trying to get it to work. I reset the control panel, i unplugged it to reset it, and the heating element just doesn't come on. It never worked from day one. total junk

We have had zero issues with Bosch dishwasher.

Our 36" cooktop is Electrolux. The burners are great. The knobs f'ing suck. I've had to buy 4 new ones and repair the others because they break.

Electrolux full size refrigerator & full size freezer. We've had more problems than we can count. On the fridge, service came out 4 times within the first year because water was constantly leaking out onto the floor. Finally, someone smart enough fixed it. The freezer, lights go off and on at times only on the right side. The ice maker sucks balls and is slow as shit. It's actually been doing decent recently which means it's going to crap out soon. It sounded like the compressor was making some weird noise this morning when I left but had resolved by the time I got home. Wouldn't buy a damn thing from them again.

A lot of good feedback here. Definitely a tough time to be selecting appliances, all I have been reading about the last couple weeks is supply chain issues and an overwhelming amount of quality control issues with newer units. My current setup is GE profile stainless everything for last 7 years with zero issues other than some dishwasher maintenance.

30 years ago we complained about how quality sucked compared to the appliances of 20 years prior, and we did that back then, too. Never ending story.

I’ve had and loved a Wolf gas (propane) range, Sub-Zero fridge, Bosch and Miele dishwashers, etc. Today our house has what was in it - GE everything (and not their top line). We had to replace the microwave which took itself out, otherwise they are fine. Perfectly adequate for our needs.

Just two of us at home, rarely do dinner entertaining. I look at our kitchen and think the space would be better used as a wet bar and maybe elevator footprint. If we had to do a full remodel, I might go that way and just eat out / door dash. I think the math might work on that.

For the OP, consider how much you cook and really use the kitchen, vs design/style and get what fits your “use case”. We cook so infrequently and simply that it would never make sense to go high-end for cooking control; and our kitchen is not a focal point of our floor plan so it isn’t a great place show our amazing taste and vast wealth to visitors.

And appliances of all types are readily available used from others who are remodeling. A bit of cleaning and perhaps a part or two replaced, and you’re good as new (or at least have a good temporary option while you wait for delivery of new).

I'd seriously consider induction vs gas, it is SO MUCH less hassle to keep clean it's not funny and you can deep fry a buffalo in 40 seconds.

One broad tip, buy everything you can except the dishwasher with knobs rather than touch controls, i fucking LOATHE touch controls. We have a Bosch dual oven and the touch controls give me fucking fits, absolutely despise them.

Stay away from Samsung French door refrigerators. I have to "dethaw" mine once every 5 months because the center radiator freezes with ice and in turn ends up sounding like a hemi V8 in the middle of the night.

Dishwasher is a new LG model, works great, never had an issue.

Don't touch samsung or LG anything, they make TV's ffs. We bought a fisher and paykel counter depth fridge, as in built in not free standing. It is a touch small but I have a spare fridge and freezer in the basement. It is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than the next cheapest built in (bosch).

We built our new house this year and went with Thermador for fridge/freezer/wine columns, 48" dual-fuel range, microwave, dishwasher, and under-cabinet fridge/freezer for the bar. We got an 18" Bosch dishwasher for the bar as well because Thermador didn't make one in that size and they look basically identical on the inside. We picked a Miele built-in coffee machine over the Thermador because it had the extra feature of automatically moving the spout to meet whatever size cup you put under it.

So far we've had no issues with any of our appliances, but I'm only speaking from 6 months experience. WiFi on the range allows you to pre-heat the oven with your phone which is cool, but the oven has to be left in "remote start" mode to do so.

Also, I'd recommend looking into Ventahood instead of the hood that matches your range's brand. It's a lot quieter, moves more air, and easier to clean!

Wolf stove, just bought our second one as we moved. The thing is a tank and no computer to breakdown. They just work. Whirlpool owns Maytag, Electrolux and a bunch of the big name appliances. I've had mixed experiences with them. I try to stay away from fancy electronics as they just don't last. A refrigerator is a compressor and heat exchanger and will last for decades, but the TV in the door will likely crap out about the time the warranty expires.

Another vote for Bosch dishwashers. This is the 2nd house we've installed Bosch in, and will never have anything other.

For a range, definitely check out Induction. Less heat in the house, fast/simple cleanup, safer for little kids and old (forgetful) folks - won't turn on if no pot is on the 'burner' activated.
