It's hard because alot of girls have different tastes (some are way more materialized than others) and I completely agree that this is a commercialized "holiday".

On average, most girls like something of sentiment from their boyfriends/husbands like a bracelet/necklace.

What about a little get-away (get a nice hotel with a jacuzzi, champage and dinner after)?

Edit: just noticed DougLikesBMW's post. What about a box of chocolates and a dinner? Will that put you in the doghouse?

12/25 - Christmas

You try coming up with presents for all three. One gift does not count for the next holiday. I found that out early.

Yeah, you never want to hurt someone that way who has been nice to you. At least fess up, tell her you how you feel and be friends.

Whatever you do, make sure that she is aware of the holiday that comes one month after Valentine's day:Steak and BJ Day. A great girlfriend will find it fun and will go with it.

You know a good gift and most ladies are down for it... Set up a day for getting her a manicure or a pedicure or both. It should only set you back like 75.00 for both, depending on where you go it could be less.
