Thank You! It's great to be back in the community. I didn't know how much I loved my 135i, and bmw's for that matter, until I didn't have one anymore. It's a much more special car IMO and after owning an American sports car, my opinion/bias has changed vastly. Almost positive I'll never go back that route. Here are a few shoots of my new beauty. First two were taken at dealer and the 3rd was a quick shot while out in Houston grabbing a beer. This is member TLud's old car. The work he did on it is 2nd to none.

Holy fuck, the depreciation hit on the Shelby must have been painful

Nice m3 though!

Just curious, how many miles are on the M3?

Do M3s have significant/expensive issues outside of their warranty period?

I've always been worried about that but I see some people driving them around town.

Yea, A little. Mostly bc I put the shelby into a wall doing almost 60mph...other than that I would have gotten a good 3-4k higher. You live and learn right!?

Well, I loved my 135i tbh. And going to an american car after just seemed like a down grade...despite how badass and prestige a Shelby. In MY EYES, BMW gives me the feel in a car that I always wanted and truly enjoy - smoothness, elegance, performance, prestige, sophisticated, and fun (just how i like my woman hehehehe).

Very true. Especially with new Shelby coming out in a few months. IMO, they made too many. Just me. Good experience though.

I bought her with 37k still under factory warranty for almost a year. Um, they can, say, if you blow an engine! My buddy has one (e90) and it's rock solid. So far these engines, and trannies, are holding up quite nicely. They seem to be more reliable than the e46 and also require much less maintenance(no valve adjustments every 30k which is awesome).

Wow, I wish. I would most likely do the VT1 535 kit....if I did. Won't bee anytime soon though. I will add ESS tune and test pipe to get a little more power out of her. She has some excellent pickup as is...couldn't imagine with a VF620.

A lot of people on this forum especially don't seem to understand that all out performance is not the answer to everything...the new GT500 seems to prove this point further. Most Mustang and Corvette fan boys seem to think this is so. (I personally like Mustangs and Corvettes but they are generally speaking for a different crowd and purpose than most BMWs).

Exactly, and then there are the people who think if someone is spending over $60k for a car. They should be driving a new or used GTR, no other car is worthy. In their fantasy world every person should be driving a GTR.

Well FWIW, that particular car is an incredible machine and an overall incredible value for what you get... but at the same time; someone who is looking to purchase an M5, M3 or M6 shouldn't exactly be cross shopping because these cars are not competitors nor where they ever meant to be. A BMW is a luxury vehicle; a GTR is a track monster... 2 different cars for 2 different purposes and pending on what a person values, compromises have to be made either way.

I would have to agree. Each to his own. I believe BMW's are a great compromise for everything. Certainly, a GTR is a track monster - respect that car greatly. Believe it finished 2nd in Motortrend's Best Drivers Car 2011 behind the 458 Italia. Definitely not the same class of car as an M3.

You really live and learn with cars. Over a 4 year period I went through 7 cars and wasn't satisfied. I moved to BMWs and went through an E46 M3, E86 M, and E92 M3 and honestly of the 3 the Z4MC looked the best and now can't wait to get out of my E92 M3. I thought it would grow on me but for me and my tastes I can't get past its standard plain looks so hopefully I can trade it in this weekend. I want performance and looks. The M3 for me has the performance but lacks in the look department. I need both. Some will disagree but we all have our own needs/wants/preference.
I am looking at the following cars this weekend:

2011 Lotus Evora
2011 Porsche Cayman R
2008 Porsche Cayman S
2010 BMW 1M
2007 Lamborghini Gallardo

I would have never gone Ford. Been there done that but I went though some crazy cars myself and kick myself for losing some money but learning the car so it was a trade off pretty much.

Nice to see you are in a great color M3. I think you made the right choice FOR YOU.

Not a fan of M3s, but Interlagos Blue (that's what it is, right?) turns it into a whole new car. Very rare. Never seen one before in this color.
