cali law may be different than ny but in NY there is no jury for traffic offenses. if the judge knows you he can't be your judge so if you hire him then it's a conflict. Can you do this after you got the ticket? If a judge hasn't been assigned then probably but I would check with an attorney. A lot of times cops don't show up or if there is a huge line you might be able to make a deal but in your case I doubt it... It depends on the state but iif you are scheduled for trial and the cops isn't there then how can he testify against you? they can't keep making u go to court over and over... I have another trick that will buy you some time but can't post it here...

The first time I was ever pulled over I told the cop I had just gotten my wheels put on and hadn't been able to make it to a shop to have the speedo recalibrated. Granted, I was doing 78 in a 70, I was in the right lane and everyone was flying by me like I was standing still. So I was sure he pulled me over because of my truck.

Let me off with a warning.

Sorry to hear your luck Boost. I use to drive 95 everytime I hopped on a freeway. When I finally got busted, my only thought was, "Well 3 years of doing 95 and they finally caught me. Twas a good run."

that won't work... at least not in california.. 7 years ago, I had white gauges installed on my E36.. and the person who installed them, pushed down on the needle too hard that it would get stuck at 45mph and never move.... I got pulled over, and told the cop "oh shit, my speedometer is broken... look it's still stuck at 45mph even while we're stopped..." He was about to ticket me for having a broken speedometer but he just gave me the speeding ticket.

Sorry bout that. I got pulled over about 6 years ago doing 112 in a 65 and lost my license for 9 months, then another 3 years of SR22 insurance... ouch.

I have been lucky lately but generally try and keep it below 15 over. Good luck with the whole keeping your license thing!

Damn bro. I feel your pain. Was grabed on a camera going 100 where 50 was allowed in my 850. Got a sweet picture sent and some crazy fine. Hate the law, but what can you do. Just live with it and hope they wont catch you next time =)

I agree seeking legal counsel would be your best option now provided that you are absolutely sure you do not qualify for traffic school (because of your last ticket date).

I don't think they will fall for that one. Velocitation argument probably would not hold up in court. How could you not know you were going over 65?

in a bmw 100 feels like maybe 70 so 80 could be like 55. If that doesn't work keep postponing it and go to another site like 6speed. They might have a way to beat the system or know the judge or prosecutor... If I were you I would have somebody call the court a few days before your date and say you tried to kill yourself because your wife or gf was cheating on you and to have the date postponed or call yourself and be like I'm in the looney bin I can't make it to court and what are they going to say? If they call the rehab or looney bin the hospital cannot comfirm or deny that you are there(check with a lawyer) so as long as you don't get another notice you are set... You could also have somebody go to court for you and tell this story but good luck finding someone...

Just to postpone the date? You can get 2 legal extensions. . . . so what good would all this do?

I feel you, I've gotten three tickets + a red light ticket in the past 6 months... I only got one of them on my record because I chose to fight it (stupid...) the other two were taken off with the help of a good lawyer.. left a fat hole in my wallet though, search for a good lawyer, the regionals should help you out on that.. try bimmerforums regional also, they have been around for a lot longer gl man.
