I root for Alonso and BMW of course. Reliability is a concern with the BMWs right now. We've had a couple good qualifying sessions and some terrible ones too. I think we would do better if we had better drivers. I like NH over JV. Montoya was our best driver. I like when he took out Schumacher at Monaco a couple years ago. Maybe we can get Kimi next year. Alonso is going to McLaren.

How much money did McLaren shell out for Alonso to drive an inferior car to the Renault?

Pole position every time and 1st place finishes. I have SO much experience in an F1 car. I've lapped the Nurburgring in an F1 car in 5'45"! I could probably do a 5'30" if I concentrate. Given this is all GT4 experience.

man if alonso goes to McLaren that would be tragic because he'll just get stiffled there.

That would be interesting to see. If Schumacher isn't competitive for podium finishes in the BMW, we would know it's not the driver.

Alonso is saying that he feels confident about the McLarens next year.
BTW a sports paper said yesterday that Pedro De la Rosa (McLaren's test driver)could be Alonso's teamate next year. It'd be amazing to see an all spanish team in F1, and not any team but McLaren.

Dayum!! That would be cool. Pete Rose always set the fastest laps in testing. I've been waiting for a team to give him a shot. Look how well, despite reliability issues, Rosberg has been doing. I have a feeling the Spaniard is better.

young rosberg has what people refer to as natural speed. strap that boy in a reliable fast car and he will go fast. He's definitely got potential and hopefully he'll have a team that can give him the proper equipment to do the job

Meh, my take on it is that BMW will never be a top tier team. They just don't have the total commitment to winning. It's a marketing tool, and a very good one outside the United States.

Toyota's too commitee driven to get it done, they'll be gone in 2-3 years max if they keep pouring the money in that they are. Honda is the only mid-tier manufacturer I see that'll play at the 2-3-4 spot in the manufacturer's championship.

BMW may catch up, but I just don't see them going balls-to-the-wall in an effort to develop the car and get top drivers. JV? He'll be gone next year, they just honored the contract. Dump the old Sauber factory, bring it all back to Munich and start from scratch with some innovative thinking.

... my Father's day present last year was to go to my first F1 race ... in Indianapolis. Talk about the suck. Can't wait till my son is old enough, we're going to Montreal next time.

I'm really curious to see what Hamilton can do in an F1 car.

Not laughing at your experience, just the way you described it. But I agree with your point on BMWs commitment to being number 1. Theissen said it himself from the beginning that he doesn't forsee them being contenders. Granted it won't happen overnight, but at least say winning is your goal.

De la Rosa has been really unlucky not getting a good ride, he is a great driver and always gives a good show, he is not shy about overtaking.

In his young days he dominated the Japanese GT and japanese formula nippon (F-3000) driving both categories the same year, he was an idol there.

I feel the same way too about BMW commitment (but I can dream about them being on podium right?). LOL, F1 is not the same at the brickyard 500. For US folks, the closet place to watch F1 is Canada.
