BP says Oil Resources to run out in 53.3 Years

http://www.worldcarfans.com/11407037...ccording-to-bp

Interesting.....

Quote:
A study issued by BP says the world's oil resources will end in 53.3 years based on the current extraction rate.

Sooner or later we will squeeze the last drop of oil Earth was blessed with but that will happen in roughly five decades from now if we were to believe a study published by BP. They estimate oil resources right now stand at 1,687.9 billion barrels which represents a 1.1 percent improvement compared to 2013's estimations.

Would have been a lot more if they hadn't spent 87 days pumping it into the Gulf of Mexico...

Scary thought, though I'm a little weary of the source, as they have every incentive to get oil prices hiked.

I am glad that the US burns everyone elses oil first. Just getting our pumps on line in the Midwest so we can charge 1000 a barrel as we export to the middle east in a couple more years.

53 years? I think they'll figure out to how to make fun cars with other types of fuel a few decades from now. Auto enthusiasts will always be around.

Yeah, but if oil is going to really run out then it's unavoidable for them right? If what you're selling is finite then what alternative do you have but to try and raise the price while it lasts?

I guess that's fine with me. Won't be driving much when I'm 83.

I better get the most fuel inefficient car I can find, since I might not be able to enjoy a petrol fueled vehicle when I'm 90.

I'm not surprised, nor worried. Most cars will be fully electric by then, and synthetic gasolines have been in development for years already.
