Directional versus non-directional tires
http://www.motorweek.org/features/go...otation_update
I have the 35i Msport with the 20" wheel/tire package. I won the boobie prize and ended up with the OEM Pirelli tires. In understand that are different sizes front to back, but I can't tell whether they are directional (can't be rotated side to side) or non-directional. Anyone know? |

The Pirelli P Zero is like any other asymmetrical high performance tire on the market, it is NOT directional and only needs to be mounted properly on the wheel (outside on the outside). If a tire was both asymmetrical and directional, you'd have to buy the tire based upon which side of the car it goes on, and that is not the case at all. |

It's pretty easy to tell if it's directional
The sidewall will have a moulded arrow pointing round in one direction and possibly the word "rotation". Asymmetrical tires also will be marked with a moulded word "OUTSIDE" or similar.

I got to stand corrected. The tires are asymmetrical BUT not directional meaning that they can be switched from side to side.
I automatically ASSumed since my last 50i had directional tires, this would too. WRONG!! |
