Only 9psi?? Boost Leak?

Hi guys. 2007 335i with dual intake, charge pipe, BOV, and JB4 at map 5 on 93 octane.
When i set the fuel gauge to boost reading and get on it I only see 9psi max till i get to around 6k RPM and the half engine shows up. I tried map 1 and still get under 10psi. While accelerating i can hear a strong vooosshhh sound followed by the BOV opening once i let off the gas. I checked the pipes and connections and cant seem to find anything thats out of place. Any suggestions?

I will do a log tomorrow hopefully and upload it.
One thing i noticed in JB4 under user preferences the cells werent zeros, some had numbers in them. Should they all be set to zero if im running map 5 only?
All the mods came with the car, along with JB4 installed. Im new to this tuning and trying to figure this out.

Thanks for any help.

I agree. If you replace all your vacuum lines and don't see an improvement , then suspect the boost solenoids.

No i havent done that, is that a complicated job? I checked the lines that i can see and access but didnt see any rips or tears.

Is there a way to test the solenoids to test if they are bad?

Time consuming but no not really. A razor blade and about 14 ft of vacuum hose. Use the razo blade to cut the old hose off of the nipples . Slicing it along the hose and peeling it . Check the hoses behind the oil filter housing and then the ones by the vacuum canisters . Then the hardest ones are the turbo ones. Save those for last. If I find the link , I will post it.

A quick inspection of lines won't tell the whole story as things expand under pressure and a hairline crack in a line would not be extremely noticeable. If you have a 2007 you definitely need to start by replacing all your lines. It's a pretty easy job, just take off the old line, measure the new as the same and replace.

If that doesn't work it was still not a waste of time as I'm sure they would have went sooner then later.

Next thing to check would be boost solenoids.

If the vehicle has an aftermarket intercooler I would re check those connections and make sure they are square with the pipes. Give them an extra snug because as I mentioned before things expand under boost so it may "appear" connected but could still leak.

I see you have an aftermarket charge pipe, so check the connection at that nearest the intercooler an re-tighten it.

I would start by checking the connection for all the aftermarket parts that you have installed ( intercooler,cp,etc)
then change vacuum lines after that solenoids

Great advice guys, thanks. I will start by checking the connections again and start replacing lines. I won't be driving it in winter so i will have it on jacks in the back garage and replace everything. New plugs and coils will be on as well.

The lines that are usually the culprit come off the vac pump to the bottom of the vac canisters. They travel along the front of the motor over the cam cover. I had one of those get a tiny leak and it drove me mad! Took forever for me to diag. Although it wasnt me that answered what it was, it was someone on the forum who told me where to look.

If you do all the vacuum lines and all check out without really throwing 30FF codes for a boost leak and it takes a long time to pull through the RPM prior to shifting. It just might be clogged secondary midcats. This is what happened to me and I posted a thread about it.

Exclamation

Hi guys,
Just did some logging and on the first run i got the 30FF code.
Did few more runs after that and saved the logs. Please let me know what you think and if you see something out of the ordinary that could help me.

PS: I didnt replace any vacuum lines yet but i looked again and couldnt see anything that was ripped. Just didnt have time lately to dig into this, sorry.

UPDATE :
I was able to find the cause. It was the brass nipple that goes under the manifold, behind the charge pipe. It was broken and glued back on by the previous genius and was partially hanging there thanks to the glue he used.
I will do the proper dril and tap fix for that this winter.
Thanks for all the help fellas.

That's a popular failure point. Glad you found it and updated the thread.

It's always the simple stuff.
