ATS-V and CTS-V track testing

Looks like they should be on the way soon.

http://www.autoblog.com/2014/06/24/c...tsv-spy-shots/

I think its pretty obvious what setup is going in the CTS-V(detuned LT4 with the 8 speed auto). More interested to see how the ATS turns out.

Probably the 3.6TT V6 from the CTS V-Sport.

Should have happened at least a year ago. The regular ATS is in desperate need of better drivetrains and the V really should have beat the M3 to market.

Not a huge fan of the direction the Caddy Art and Science styling is going in. I think it hit its peak with the 2nd gen CTS-V but is going a bit over the top with the latest offerings...

Desperate need, really? BMW is in desperate need of a better handling chassis.

Give the ATS the N20 and N55 plus a choice between a decent manual and the ZF8 and we'd be set.

The ATS motors and transmissions handicap that car as much as the steering and suspension handicap the 3er.

Cant wait to see the final products. I truly believe they will beat the competition, especially the CTS-V.

I have no doubt the CTS-V will be faster than the M5 in many measurable aspects. But having driven the current CTS V-Sport, I would never buy it in any trim. The Cue interface is just awful, the fit & finish is pretty underwhelming, and the car feels slightly more massive than the F10 from the inside. Yes, the CTS is cheaper than the E, XF, and 5 with comparable options, but the switchgear, gauges, and interior design are subpar in my opinion. While the F10 is admittedly not very handsome in non M-sport guise, the CTS looks like a land yacht from the side! Not knocking on the car til I drive one, but if the current offerings are any indication, the CTS-V probably will be much of the same.

Yeah I sat in one. Only GM would have the sense, or lack thereof, to put an interface that requires heavily on touch, and cover that area in a glossy black trim so you get fingerprints everywhere.

Just make sure there are no extra keys on your keyring when you drive it.

They desperately need to put the new 8-speed from the new Z06 in both these cars.

Too bad it doesn't have an keyed ignition switch or that'd be funny....

Go drive a F30 320i and a ATS 2.0T both with manual transmissions and see which car drives better. At least Cadillac gives you a real LSD.

Didn't know that. You got me there! But you're the guy who posted that the ignition switch recall problem was the customers fault for having too many keys on their rings, right? Now, THAT was funny.

So you just make comments on things you know nothing about. Good, we've got that straight now.

I did say that drivers do overload their key rings, yes. Should GM have made more notice of the initial phenomenon the test engineer discovered on a prototype vehicle, probably yes, but in all engineered things, not every use-case can be accounted for; that's just reality. It'd be nice if BWM could design a fuel pump that just didn't outright die on its customers (maybe leave some female owner alone at night in a bad place). Took a TV expose and a class action lawsuit for BMW to take action. I do recall the initial BMW explanation was that dang shitty US gasoline. Just like the NiSil cylinder liners on M60(?) V-8s. Yeah, BMW has it all over GM when it comes to poor part designs. OMG I forgot about cracking E36 rear subframes, or maybe broken E46 rear springs...., or perhaps failing Z8 strut towers, and maybe E30 scalding heater cores. Hummm.....

I hope that woman with the broken fuel pump doesn't see the up to 70 people who DIED because "they had too many keys on their ring." That'll teach them, huh? I'd detail the 20 MILLION cars GM recalled THIS YEAR, but Carpal Tunnel would set in halfway through. You're an apologist for a dysfunctional, dangerous company. We've established that.

After having driven all of the cars/motors you referenced, I could not have summed up your point better/more succinctly.

Well said, Red Bread.

After the horrible experience I just got at my Cadillac dealer I don't think I can ever seriously consider buying a CTS again. Even though I was really excited for it, I don't want to have the GM service experience. What a crap company, should've just went bankrupt.
