Best way to go to the Circuit of the Americas

Hi guys,

I know its getting late, but I was wondering how many of you have gone to Austin for the Circuit of the Americas? Also, what you recommend for tickets/viewing of the race. Thanks for the help!

Ya thats kinda the info I was looking for. If you look around though most of the hotels are already sold out around the track. Didnt know if there was a way get a conference/VIP area though. I heard somewhere you can get a group together and book something like that for race day so you have somewhere to hang out. Im honestly not sure at all haha. Im guessing we will probably buy GA tickets and stay at a hotel a few miles from the track. Unless someone had any other good ideas.

It would be cool to get a large group together even on this site and get something awesome like a club box

i have gone every year for F1; it is an amazing event. the first year we bought premium grand stand seats, on the 3rd to last turn of the race, which is supposidely one of the best seats that were offered. i did not enjoy it at all. the last 2 years we have bought GA tickets on the lawn and i feel it is a lot funner to watch. my friends and i bring out some folding chairs and/or blankets and just chill on the lawn drinking beers. tickets are cheaper you have the ablility to choose where to sit as well obviously and there are many options with it not being utterly crowded if you get there at a decent time.

Hotels, anything off of 35 and 71 is a pretty good location to stay close to downtown yet pretty close to the track (30-40minutes for race day. due to traffic). all the action is in downtown and you should head over to that area to enjoy all the stands and parties for the race.

Looks like we are staying in either SW Austin or north of downtown so that we can be close to other things to do in town. I think we are doing GA as well for tickets.

Bottom line is no one knows what seats are best for you. What I do when I go to a new track is walk around during practice sessions and write down which seats will be cool for the following year. I'm not a straight away person. I like turns and seeing the driver's different lines and turn in points. I went to The F1 race last year and hung out at the last turn.

Hotels I think went pretty quick. I searched on the Hilton site the day after the date was confirmed by FIA and it showed nothing available downtown but was able to squeeze in using Diamond status. If my wife doesn't come with me I'd be willing to split the room. Doubletree Downtown, two double beds.

The track is about 15 miles (25min drive) from downtown and I don't think there is a lot to do around there. A few friends of mine that went last year said there was a lot of fanfest stuff going on downtown and that it was a lot of fun. They sat in GA and said it was a pretty good experience with good perspectives and what not and that they'd do it again. I went to the Spanish Grand Prix this year in GA and liked the ability to move around and watch from multiple points on the track.

I haven't bought tickets yet, so I would definitely be open to participating in a group rate.

I've been there the last two years and I would strongly recommend high up in the Turn 1 Grandstands as the best place to sit. The view from up on the hill is phenomenal and you can see an amazing amount of the track. I've stayed in San Antonio both years and its not a bad drive up/back.

yes you can buy a "chill out room" I believe they fit 20 or 40ppl costing I believe $20K OR 30k$ RESPECTIVELY. it is kind of outrageously overpriced for one of the "suites"

Great information guys thank you! Id pay 500 a person if we could get 40 people in a "suite" hahaha.

Lots of options here. Im planning on coming with 4 people so we'd probably need our own room. It would be cool to meet some local forum guys out there though.

Turn 12 top rows have a great view, too. For some reason, those rows were not available this year even for presale event, so I took T15 seats, those are looking to the same T12-T15 complex, plus 200mph back straight.

As far as a place to stay there are a lot of apartments\houses for rent on a weekly basis. Just like renting a beach house.
