It's a shame that it took tire failures and a safety car to make exciting racing.

Holy disintegrating tires. That is dangerous. Good run for Rosberg.

WELL FUCK ME AGAIN STANDING UP! NBC or CSNBC or Comcast did it again!

I'm looking at Comcast's guide, it says "Formula One racing" 8:30-11:00. Once again, not only is the race not on, but they gave a race recap right at 8:30 and ruined the race for me, right before airing the Tour de France.

They did this before. How can they screw this up like that!!!???

GREAT! It's 8:45, and NOW the race is being aired. I'm pissed off.

Use any tire brand you want so long as they meet specifications...too many restrictions in F1 these days.

My guess would be that one of the curbs had some sharp inside edges, maybe with a deep dip in the dirt on the inside, so when the cars cut the corner too far, the inside edges of the tires all got cut by the curbing.

Awesome drive by Weber and Hamilton, and Massa as well, with what they were all given.

There are reports that the kerb on the inside of turn 4 was sharp... Alonso points out that they've been racing there for years without a problem with the kerbs. From delaminations at Bahrain to 6 tire failures at Silverstone (4 left rears, 1 left front and 1 right rear) not to mention innumerable near misses (Rosberg and Vettel were very close to tire failures when their rears were examined) it paints a pretty damning picture for Pirelli.

It's bad enough that the drivers are in "tire management" mode... now they can't use the kerbs for fear of damaging the tire?

In a way, the teams do have themselves to blame, Pirelli did want to move to Kevlar reinforced tires (moving away from the steel used currently), but the teams did not unanimously consent to it. Wonder if that will change after Germany.

Yeah, maybe they'll change to the Kevlar reinforcement, maybe it'll help stop the tire explosions. I would think they should be able to have a tire go low or flat and not have them unexpectedly explode, it was really bad in this race.

Watching the race, I thought I saw on some corners, the dirt on the insides of the curbs was dug away, maybe from tires taking divetts when cutting the corners, which may have exposed the sharp edged curb. This would explain why they hadn't had problems in the past.

F1 is still totally awesome, but I guess I'm old-school. I'd like to see them forget about being green and efficient, go back to the high horsepower, high rpm V-10's and V-12's, bring back refueling, with tires that don't degrade as quickly, and just let the drivers and teams RACE.

NOT looking forward to next year's turbo V-6's either.

I'll be sure to check the 1st posts in your threads in the future. Usually I just scroll immediately to all your awesome pics!

I watched practice, and qualifying on my channel 81 (CSNBC), looked ahead and it was listed as also having the race at 8:30 on the same channel so I thought I had it covered.

They then re-aired the actual race at 8:45, but only after a recap at 8:30 which ruined the race for me. Not sure, but I think with my cable in my area they aired the Live race on NBC.

I got caught out the same way on a previous race, so I was extra angry.

great race, Alonso, Webber and Hamilton drove beautifully, sucks about the tires though. Pirelli needs to step their game up

Part of the same dilemma, I figured I should have done my due diligence and checked my local channels.

If I remember correctly didn't Alonso say Vettel is due for some bad luck in Canada? Well I guess his voodoo finally pulled through for him. Probably the only chance he has to actually beat Vettel.
