I remember driving to Chicago one time about 4 days before Christmas in my 2001 E46M3. We left at about 1am and as soon as i got on I75 just outside of Tampa i came up next to a C55 AMG. We got to messing around and before you knew it my fuel light was on and i had to turn off, well in to GA. lol

I wasn't looking at the speedo at all when driving with the Merc and really didn't think much of it, so i didn't quantify how quickly we made it to our first fuel stop. But, being astounded how good of time were were making, we kept track for the rest of the trip. We needed up making it to Kankakee, IL which is just outside of Chicago, in 14h 15min. A drive which is supposed to take about 16.5hrs.

A few years ago I did 156 on GPS in a Jetta during a 120mph average lap of a certain 38 mile loop. No opportunity to go faster than that now due to the 1's factory speed limiter and and an increased fear of death / arrest.

Pretty similar story for me, happened on I95 in Georgia with 3 to 4 other cars. It took us 45mins to travel the 112miles on that stretch of road.

172 in modified E60 M5
150+ in multiple vehicles

A few noteworthy slow cars that I went fast in:

141 in a lightly modified 1992 Acura Integra (took like 2 minutes and going downhill)
140 in a stock 2004 X5 3.0i (took forever)

Hit 140 in my GLI. Found out there was a 135 speed limiter stock. After I got it tuned, I wanted to see if it was really removed.

Bounced the limiter at 155 on my old 545i once.

Only got the E46 M3 up to about 130, GPS confirmed. That was at the track.

The fastest I've ever driven was 155-160 in an Aston Martin V12 Vantage S. I was invited to a private event at the track where we were able to drive many different cars. I jumped in the Aston Martin V12 Vantage S and went to town. The car had so much more in it but the straight wasn't long enough. Awesome car!

Had the limiter tuned out on my 300C SRT. Got it to 155mph and she could have done more. Very stable and that 6.1L HEMI is a beauty.

Fastest I have ever been is about 115-120; pretty impressive because the speedometer in my car at that time(05 corolla) only went up to 110

I got a 135i up to about 165ish a few years back on a test drive, I was amazed how stable it was at that speed...had my M3 up to about 145.

252 mph on a closed track in Germany in a Bugatti Veyron SS. Its top speed was 258 mph, but "track concerns" stopped us at 252.

Craziest experience of my life.

I've gotten up to 120mph in my 1996 Altima with 4 people in the car, but this was back in college. You are right... very stupid thing to do. But we're all stupid before we get smart right? (well, at least some of us eventually get smart)

125 on my old SV650, 135 in a fresh off the lot Mustang GT.

I'm pretty mild. I've only ever had the 335 up to 105-110, which is hardly above normal traffic speed around here.

My 335i has seen 120mph a few times and its nothing. I had a '68 SS396 convertible Chevelle that lost a driveshaft at 95mph. Front yolk broke and then I ran over it. Looked in rearview mirror and the driveshaft was flipping and tumbling. This took place in NM near white sands missile base so there was nobody around. Didn't even go back for it. Crazy youth. I was in army then so death really had no meaning.

Did 75mph in Chevy k20 pick up on sand in NM desert. Floating is the best description. The dust cloud I left was epic.

Ha ha no the driveshaft. Went to a junkyard and got another one. Put it in on roadside and kept on truckin'. Drove same car over the mountain without a passenger front fender doing 70-75mph. Needed registered and DMV had to check VIN so drove it there missing fender. Ah crazy young blood. The front yolk was still in transmission but was missing an ear.
