*raises hand* yep I've done it and even though it set me back financally for awhile ultimately I had absolutely no regrets.

The job itself was as a customer service tech support for cable modems as a summer gig when I was in college and basically as a worker you're treated like scum (and this is even before you start answering complaint calls - lol). Anyway the hours were ridiculous 12hr shifts 3 days a week and after a month one day I said "f-it" and didn't come back since.

but honestly if this job you have is in your career field/journey then I wouldn't make that move - I just did it because for me it was just a summer gig and I was only doing it to have some spending loot my pockets. If that's not your situation I would recommend you at least attempt to leave on good terms

I almost quit a couple times without a new job or any backup plan. I found a way to make it acceptable, found a way to play "the game" while I looked. I also found that looking for a job was energizing, and helped me tough it out in my existing job.

Now, if you're being harassed or have some other work issues, then quit.

I could never lie... esp about that!! A new employer would be extremely nervous hiring someone whos going to cry sexual harassment

If you get creative you can make the whole "fired" thing go away.

Being a girl makes it a lot easier to pull.

With the way the economy is, you don't want to quit without lining up another job.
Sorry, but this is bad advice!

No one that is in a position to hire someone will knowingly hire someone that is litiganous. Sorry, that is just asking for trouble. Especially for sexual harassment because there is no insurance for this and is really a "he said, she said thing"

I would accept getting fired, if the money and unemployment is necessary for your finacial survival. (Just more reason to have an emergency fund of 2-3 months pay in the bank...but this is another story)

Agree...burn your sick time and vacation looking for a new job...but if you give them grounds to fire you they will fight your unemployment (but this varies by state I think).

A new prospective employer (if you get fired) will accept that things didn't work out, their were personality differences that affected you job performance...you learned a lot about better ways to handle the situation (be prepared to give specifics) and can bring some good experieces to the new job.

The bottom line...you are mutually trying to seperate...but neither wants to take the financial hit to make it happen...you want (or should want) paid for your vacation/sick days and unemployment...they want you to go away, but don't want to pay for it to happen.

Good luck...

I am the boss...so they are waiting for you to quit so they don't have to pay unemployment...if they are accnts..they are the CHEAPEST people alive...every copy and paper clip gets counted and charged to the correct client

If you want the unemployment (they are setting you up for termination with cause...with the paper trail) stick around...

Otherwise...walk in tomorrow at 8:00 in street clothes and tell them it was a pleasure working...but that you are moving on...kinda cool if you are up to it...

I walked off a job at Builder's Square (like Lowe's or Home Depot; now out of business) many, many years ago. I was fed up with all of the old people asking for discounts on damaged items during weekly old person day at the store. To make matters worse, I had a bag of cement catch on a screw and pour a pound or so of its contents into my shirt. After slamming several hundred pounds of cement into this old guy's minivan, I told the manager that I'm leaving and not coming back until my next scheduled day. They could decide whether or not I still had a job then.

When I came back several days later, my work number no longer worked in the system. I can say one thing for sure, I never regretted that decision. But it's not like the job was a career. It was just a minimum wage position while I attended college.

im just not sure if i can get unemployment if they supposedly have just cause?

well even if i resign, it will be in a professional manner, i am giving them three weeks notice with the option of sticking around through second quarter because i know it will be horrible for my coworkers but i am totally expecting them to just be like uhhhh bye...

def don't want to say that. try to get a job at a mortgage company and see if they ask you about your ethnicity. That's illegal to ask in a interview so you can sue. bring a tape recorder or hidden cam. i say bring a hidden cam in case they try to not pay unemployment....

My friend is a tax accountant and his company is always looking for competant hard working individuals. Of course it is in Houston.

They do work a mandated 70-80 hours a week during tax season (both April and October). If you're truly sick or have to see a doctor they want you to do so. If you weren't really sick during that time that's not a good thing to do though.

I am in your position though. Completely tired of coming in to this place everyday. By the end of the week I'm in a very bad/bitter mood. My drinking during the week has returned too. Not good.

I left a six figure job where i worked 6 months out of the year. Had to deal with assholes on a daily basis and decided I wanted to try something else. I can always go back but, right now I am trying to focus on something I actually enjoy doing with more advancement opportunities. Make sure your emergency fund is big enough before you quit anything.
