Well it was bound to happen sometime. The price increases aren't too bad.

+1 Could be worse. A couple of years ago, the Lotus Elise base price went up $2K over a period of a few months due to the exchange rate and the fact that they don't have the economies of scale and hedging ability that larger carmakers have.

However, on top of these price increases, my ex-wife was telling me that the lease on the car she's planning on ordering went up about $60/month (that's before the increase). I assume that is at least in part a function of the issue with the residuals falling and higher rate of defaults due to the slowdown in the economy.

Interesting that the base MSRP for the E92 M3 has not increased; however, the Metallic Paint (+$75) and Premium Package ZPP (+$100) options have increased.

Looks like the 135i didn't get a price hike either. My guess is it's cause they are new cars and MSRP was only been released for a couple months. This increase in prices is really not that bad considering how weak our dollar is.

I bet that once they announce the MY2009 M3 (and all MY2009 BMWs, for that matter) there will be another increase...

Don't complain my American friends, you still have the best prices in the world by a long stretch.

Can anyone confirm or deny that this is North America wide? (ie. inclusive of Canada) It doesn't say anywhere on the bulletin that it's country specific; but I'm wondering if this might be US-only as they try and catch the American market back up to what the rest of the world pays for BMW's.

This is US specific, also expect a bump with the MY change over in the fall.
The reason the 1, M3, X6 did not get the bump is because it was already there since launch and part of the reason the 1 was priced so close to the 3.
