Broken i-Drive
Soo about 6 months ago my i-Drive went out in my 06 e91 Wagon.
The slow death of my i-Dirve: At first it would take longer and longer to load, Then it would fail to load at times -- get a flash on the screen -- then the bmw logo would finally load after 15min, Then it would load every now and again after being in the car after long trips And now its just blank, BMW screen on occasion loads but then blanks out again. What should I do to replace -- look on ebay for a CCC of the same year -- or -- try and upgrade to a CIC ? Need direction here...thanks in advance |

You can also grab one of my CIC kits if you have some more money to spend. This choice will depend on how nice is your car and how much you value having a nicer interface. |

My CIC kit would be $700 for your car. With the newer CCC you will need a new head unit trim with is about $35. |

Yes that is my kit in the video. The eBay link I sent was a $85 03/08 CCC that you would need to grab just a new trim piece for that goes around the newer CCC. Post 03/07 BMW made a lot of bug fixes with the e90 including a CCC 2.0 that's much more reliable than the early CCC unit your car had. I only really hear of the earlier units failing. You can easily DIY code the replacement CCC unit unlike the cic which you have to deal with FSC codes.
My CIC kit comes everything you need to retrofit a cic in your car retaining the factory CCC controller. I shouldn't be advertising my kits on here since I am not a registered vendor and I could be a snake. |

wow same exact thing happen to my Idrive it seems to have a better chance of it booting up and working sometimes during the drive if the weather is cool that day. I'm also looking at different options for a fix. thank you for the info Nickco. I was looking all over to try to find out if I can upgrade my 1st gen ccc to a 2nd gen with those # buttons in the middle of the unit to work with my system without those buttons. also I'm interested in the price of your cic kit too and what coding is involved in swapping a 1st gen ccc unit to a 2nd gen. any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for your quick reply, when you say trim piece do you mean the one that goes in front of the unit, and when you say no voice control will I still be about to make and answer calls with my bluetooth? Lastly what does your kit include and what else will I need for everything to work with your kit (trims, combox, other parts, coding?). once again thank you for all your info
