They're all in the same ball park weight wise. If Audi is quoting 4.3s from 0-60mph, this thing is gonna be easily under 4 seconds because the RS5 is quoted as 4.5s by Audi and runs 3.9-4.0s in most tests.
its not that much lighter than a similarly optioned m3 (which is about 3500 lbs) and the m3 is a lot bigger than an rs3.

the base a3 was supposedly like 2900 lbs, so gaining 400+ lbs from that model is disappointing to me.

I was more hopeful for a car closer to 3100-3200 from the original a3. once the s3 came out and was kind of heavy, I knew this wasn't going to happen for the rs3.

as for awd, I don't care for awd so it really doesn't excuse weight gain for me. of course I know it adds weight, but I am more interested in the amount of weight, not the reasons for it.

still a cool car, but a fully loaded one sounds like it could be 3400 real world lbs in the USA, and that's too fat for a car this small IMO

The Golf R is coming in under 3,200 pounds, hopefully they can keep the R400 close to that too. Aside from larger brakes and additional cooling, it shouldn't be that different.

Is the r400 real? Is it actually getting made? And will it be offered in manual?

It's been confirmed for production and the show car has a manual. I'd be shocked if it comes to the U.S., that would piss off some Audi dealers and VW USA is likely the biggest band of misfits in the auto industry.

I wish it looked as aggressive as the concept. Specifically, those fender arches leave much to be desired.

I was really looking forward to possibly replacing my E82 with a RS3 but if the sedan looks anything like this, I probably won't be going that route. HOWEVER, if we miraculously do get the RS3 hatch, then I would totally consider this despite the not so aggressive lines.
