Transmission Limp Mode in D but not D/S or M

The transmission after being driven around in (D) for a short while will give the warning light with the gear indicator and will then be in limp mode. It will go out of limp mode right after restarting the car. The odd thing is that I can drive in (M) mode all day long and there are no issues. I have even done a handful of track days and no trans limp mode at all. I'm not getting any slip or any indication of a problem in (D) either. Hoping some of the more knowledgeable members can chime in here. Cheers.

No :/

But can't hurt. You can run mild tune and also be able to check codes and log and see why is happen mayhap by watching throttle and rpmS etc.

Check fluid and have the dealer reinstall the trans software if the fluid level is normal. Seems odd that the issue is only in D which should also happen in DS/m if it were fluid, logically

I think the software reinstall is just like 1hr worth of labor so ~150ish

What ended up happening? I have the same issue. Not any signs of trans issues besides a harder shift down from 2-1 which is supposed to be the solenoids in the transmission. And I was told that issue wouldn't even kick a code. So if I drive in manual its fine and even if I drive the auto trans its mostly fine. It did have a fault code from going into limp but my tech has not called me about it in over a week. So annoying. Anyway I was curious of your end result. Thanks!

I swapped the Fluid with Redline D4 and it seemed to help the trans a fair bit (in terms of feel). Then I dropped the pan and swapped the filter and did another fluid change and it made a pretty drastic improvement. My problems seemed to go away after that but I really didn't drive in D a whole lot. The car was converted for full track duty about a year ago and the transmission gave up the ghost about 8 months ago. Not too bad considering that was after 2 seasons of Autox, 1 season of HPDE, and another season of Time Trials.
