K&N Drop-In w/ Charcoal Delete sound difference?

Hey just, just ordered a K&N drop-in filter and planning to do a charcoal filter delete with it. I've been searching around and haven't found a solid response to whether it actually makes a difference on the engine sound (not necessarily louder but does it kind of change the tone a bit i.e. sucking in more air etc.)

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I did a charcoal delete and left the oem filter. Gives a little more growl but nothing notable.

I did a charcoal delete on my e92 and left the stock filter and I notice a SLIGHT difference in the start up sound, in the "air sucking" intake sound, and a throttle response. Again I repeat...a slight difference. This is with no other exhaust, intake, or engine mods. The delete took me about 10-15mins to do so it was worth it to me as a time killer one day. I've heard the sound is a little bit better with a drop in k&n filter so not bad for a 10-15min job altogether and about $60 or so for the filter. If you do the charcoal delete just make sure you sand off any extra of the charcoal filter that stuck with glue to the box. You don't want any of that debris being sucked into the intake. I used a 400 grit to get most of it and then a 200 grit to get the last little bit so I didn't scratch up the box too much.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I guess its worth a shot, relatively cheap and doesn't take much time. Thanks again!

Also this is pretty obvious but make sure you wipe off the excess dust and debris after sanding. Honestly the most time consuming part was taking out the intake box. It's easy but kinda a PIA for an intake filter housing.

If you do both, you should post a vid once you're all done so we can hear what it sounds like.

I installed a k&n but the first day i couldn't feel anything different. After 2-3 days the difference was noticeable, i don't regret the k&n and i can feel it when the rpm's are around 4k. I need to do the charcoal filter delete though.

Did mine, no real sound difference but free revving was noticeably different.

Felt like it was a struggle going through gears before, but not so much after doing charcoal filter delete + K&N.

Above 70, I feel the difference with the Cyba scoops as well.
