Fuel gauge question

Hi everyone,

I recently just installed my new turbos but now my fuel gauge gets stuck at 1/2. When I fill up, the gauge goes all the way up and it continues to go down normally until it reaches the 1/2 mark then just stops. It took me a while to realize (Just thought I had some good gas mileage lol). When I turn the car off my gauge goes down so I’m assuming it’s one of my floats. Any other opinions what it could be?

Thanks

You have TWO Fuel Level Senders, ONE on each side of the driveshaft, or in each "Half" of the tank. The Fuel Gauge on the Instrument Cluster shows the Total of the TWO Sender signals. ONE of your senders is ALWAYS sending MAX (Near-Max) signal. It's PROBABLY the Right Side Sender where the pump is located, as the "Jet Pump" pumps fuel from the Left Side of the "Saddle-shaped" tank to the Right side where the pump is.

The fuel level senders are wired to the JBE Module. INPA/ ISTA, or a Scan Tool that can read Signals received by the JBE Module will show the individual fuel level signals from each sender. Then you can check the wiring from that "Half" of the tank and see where the issue is, such as short-to-ground on ground side of Right-Tank Sensor.

I'll attach an ISTA ScreenPrint of 2008 335i circuit to Next Post, along with Connector View of X14271 (Blue JBE Connector).

Attached are ISTA ScreenPrints for 2008 335i Fuel Level Sensor connections to JBE.
